Post WWII apts on ground floor of historic Bayou St John home. Enjoy lush landscaping with outdoor living areas. The sun sets on the bayou across the street, which is active with kayaks, walkers and people fishing. Walk to City Park or Jazz Fest. We have a twin listing next door. Look for the Cozy By The Bayou listing. This suite has a king bed, queen sofa bed and is carpet free. The kitchenette has a fridge and microwave, plates, bowls, mugs, glassware, flat wear and a french drip coffee maker. There is a magnolia shaded gazebo, lovely for dining or visiting with friends. The property is large and lush with flowering vines and bushes. Enjoy the view of the bayou from the upstairs gallery or cross the street, sit on a boat launch and watch the world go by. This is one of the most relaxing areas in New Orleans. But don't get too relaxed! City Park is just 2 blocks away with the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Botanical Gardens, the Bestoff Sculpture Garden, the Children's Amusement Park & Storyland, New Orleans themed miniature golf and an 18 hole golf course. New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Bayou Boogaloo and Voodoo Fest are all walking distance from our house. Guests are welcome to sit on the front gallery, use the gazebo or take a chair out to the boat launch or bridge on the bayou. Lots of space in this Mid-City location! We are always available by cell phone and like to greet our guests in person upon arrival. We are history buffs and whenever possible, we like to enjoy an evening cocktail with guests and talk about the past, present and future of New Orleans. The Bayou St John area is one of the most enjoyable locations in NOLA! Our Fairgrounds Racetrack is home to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. City Park, home of NOMA, Botanical Gardens, Sculpture Garden, Story Land amusement park, a New Orleans themed miniature golf course, a traditional golf course, and other attractions, fronts on the Bayou St. John around the bend from our place. The historic St. Louis Cemetery No. 3 is in the neighborhood also. The Esplanade bus is a good way to get to the Lower Quarter and the Frenchmen St area of the Marigny for lots of nightlife and music. The Canal - Carrollton Museum streetcar terminates 2 blocks from our house and will take riders to the upper French Quarter at Canal St and the CBD where Lafayette Park, the Smoothie King Center and the Super Dome are walking distance. We bought this property in early 2016 and immediately set about to make the post WWII apartments clean and furnished for guests. Restoring this old property is a work in progress, so we can often be found gardening or decorating this nook or that.
