Total scam, the front door doesn't open or close properly, the AC didn't work, a nightmare
This apartment is a total scam. It took us a half an hour to open the door--the code didn't work at all. The door itself, perched on the first or second step of a stairway in a ramshackle house isn't more than an inch or inch and a half thick and could easily be opened with a hard shove. I have never seen a front door as cheap as this one.. The apartment on a very hot day in early August was unbearable--one AC for the main room (the living room and kitchen) didn't work at all even if it was running. Both ACs were the cheap mobile AC units where you have to put a large hose through the window (neither are pictured in the photos). The "sofa bed" doesn't have the frame that is pictured in the photos and is essentially one of those fold-up mattresses that college kids slept on in the early 90s. It's also filthy. Much worse, after finally opening the door, we couldn't close it all. Unbelievably, Booking.com and the owners expected us to sleep and stay in an apartment without a working front door.
What's equally disturbing is when I called the number listed, I was called back by a woman with a country code of the Philippines. Later, when I wrote to say we weren't staying there, the person who responded, "Michael," who throughout this ordeal has refused to give us his last name, seemed to not know who this woman was. I have asked "Michael" a number of times for the contact details of the owners and he refuses to provide them. Both Booking.com and "Michael," refuse to give us a refund. They say they will do nothing without photos. I do have photos, but I do not have a photo of the heat of the apartment. I also can't prove in one photo that a door doesn't close. I also can't prove in a photo that it took us 30 minutes to open the door. ("Michael," by the way, apparently, refuses to just go to the apartment himself to verify what we are saying.
