My family (of 4) and I had fallen severely ill during the last week of our summer break and urgently needed new accommodation as we recuperated since the previous host couldn't extend our visit.
We were SO lucky to find Monica's La Dolce Casa during peak holiday season (August). We have visited Lucca for over a decade (my husband's family once owned a property here), so it was a lovely change to stay outside the walls in Capannori.
A traditional-style ground floor apartment - very clean, with A-C, fast WIFI, (and even more special: an outdoor brick barbecue and an inside pizza oven!) located conveniently near the walls but also a five mins drive from our FAVOURITE supermarket (Esselunga in Marlia) and other areas of interest (if you have never been see Villa Reale/Lima/Bagni di Lucca/drive to Barga etc). BIG plus: free parking.
Our friendly host Monica greeted us with the keys and left the fridge and pantry stocked with essentials (and even a gift of wine). She even provided a new cot and high chair for our youngest child to use.
We also made use of the BBQ, using it twice (Monica provided all the tools needed), celebrating what had been such a hard week of illness.
We are so grateful to Monica for her kindness. We have stayed in many places largely inside the walls where the host was careless and rude but Monica made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. We loved staying at La Dolce Casa.
We will return.
Nothing. I would only add, the traditional flooring might not be suitable for children under walking age BUT we easily bought some play mats from Toy Centre which worked very well, and we have left for Monica to use in future! The dishwasher was also broken on our stay so hopefully it will be fixed next time.

Location was outside the walls but very nice to see a different side to Lucca. Close to the river gif lovely nature walks. Very generous supplies provided by the host .. wine coffee chocolates juice and soft drinks. Wonderful stove and oven for cooking. Close to supermarkets.
The property was ground floor and consequently quite dark.

Casa a pochissimi km dal centro, in posizione tranquilla. Internamente è molto ben rifinita, ben arredata e curata nei dettagli, oltre che fornita di tutto il necessario (stoviglie, biancheria per bagno/doccia, asciugacapelli, addirittura lavatrice e lavastoviglie) per trascorrere qualche giorno. La proprietaria è stata molto disponibile e accogliente, e ci ha fatto trovare la casa calda e fornita di un piccolo benvenuto di bevande e snack per la colazione. Consigliata assolutamente!
Le auto vanno lasciate esternamente lungo la strada, comunque poco trafficata e in zona tranquilla.
