This is a very special place and an amazing experience. Beautifully appointed lodge. Excellent food and the most friendly and helpful host.
We were looking to experience lake Titicaca at the beginning of our honeymoon trip to Peru, before trekking the Inca Trail from Cusco. And this more than delivered.
Uros Killa Lodge is a unique stay literally on the lake, part of the Uros floating islands.
We stayed two nights, and one day which was perfect to allow us to relax and acclimatise before making our way back to Cusco.
The lodge is amazing. Think glamping but in style, beautiful kingsize bed with extra thick duvet and blankets. Hot running water with modern shower and flushing toilet.
It is very cold on the lake at night - it varied from 20 degrees in the day to zero at night. So in the morning it is chilly, but there is a gas heater in the lodge, and with the thick bedding it actually wasn’t cold in the night whilst sleeping.
Iban is excellent, he arranged our taxi transfer from the station and was waiting at the port to take us across the lake to the lodge.
We had dinner when we arrived and then arranged with Iban a tour of the floating islands the next day for $30 and lunch at the lodge for €15 each. The lunch was delicious, as was dinner and breakfast!
Iban shared loads of information about the islands and how the Uros people live. It is facinating.
We needed to get back to Puno very early, so had to leave the island at 5am to pick up the Inka Epress bus in Puno - Iban took us on his boat with no fuss - he even brought the boat round directly to the deck of our lodge!
This was a truly memorable visit, if you’re looking for a different and special experience, we’d throughly recommend.
I know Iban is looking to improve it, but the decking as you approach the lodges do not have railings or banisters, so you do need to walk carefully,

+ Lugar excepcional en el lago Titicaca. Excelentes habitaciones modernas y confortables, con una terraza para sentarse al aire libre y disfrutar del entorno. Magnífica observación de estrellas en una noche clara. Buena comida. Los anfitriones son cálidos, amigables y serviciales. Nos apuntamos a un pequeño tour que nos gustó mucho, visitas con un guia local los alrededores. Una gran ventaja es que este lugar está ubicado fuera de las concurridas y muy turísticas islas de los Uros y realmente puedes disfrutar de la belleza del lago.
