Avoid if you expect reliable facilities or responsive host support when problems occur.
The house itself is spacious and located in a quiet area on the slopes of Mount Etna. The location is convenient for exploring the Etna region if everything works as advertised.
One of the worst accommodation experiences we have had.
During our two-night stay, we encountered multiple problems. The advertised washing machine never worked, the advertised electric kettle was missing, WiFi was unavailable on arrival, and the toilet required intervention.
The most serious issue occurred on the evening of 3 June, when the property completely lost its water supply from approximately 5:00 pm until around 7:30 am the following morning. During this time, there was no running water for the shower, sinks or toilet. We were unable to shower, wash normally or properly use the toilet throughout the evening, overnight period and the following morning.
The property is located in a remote area on the slopes of Mount Etna. Unlike a hotel, there was no on-site staff and the owner was not nearby. Although we reported the issues immediately, there was no meaningful assistance or practical solution. Most communication was through the owner’s wife, while the owner himself was largely absent. We simply had to wait until the water supply eventually returned the next morning.
What disappointed us most was not that unexpected problems occurred, but how they were handled. Multiple advertised facilities were unavailable, the response to the loss of an essential utility was inadequate, and no meaningful service recovery or compensation was offered despite Booking.com’s intervention.
If you are looking for reliable accommodation, especially in a remote location where immediate assistance is important, I would strongly recommend choosing another property.
