BE WARE - DON’T BOOK WITH THIS HOST!
I have booked three bedroom apartments in Dubai downtown would a nonrefundable booking. Whole amount was debited from my credit cards prior to checkin.
1. When we arrived, the host came after approximately 20 to 25 minutes and checked us in a two bedroom apartment instead of three bedroom apartment. The apartment was different than the one that we have booked through Booking.com. The price of the three bedroom is higher than the two bedroom they gave us, but they did not give us any refund for any of the nights.
1. Second day, the host texted us and called us requesting us to to check out from this apartment as he claimed there will be a scheduled maintenance in this apartment and that he will move us to another apartment at another floor or another tower. I refuse that as this wouldn’t disturb my family and myself I told him that he can reschedule his maintenance.
Then he called me again in the morning and said that we have to checkout immediately as there is another booking at this apartment, and that this apartment actually doesn’t belong to him. I also refuse that since this is describing me and my family. Then he threatened to cancel the booking on booking.com.
After that they started sending us men to the apartment ringing the bell and knocking on the door several times. When I open the door, I saw one of the hosts with three or four men asking me to leave the apartment with my family immediately, claiming that there is another booking in this apartment and that I have only booked for one night.
And my family felt very threatened and stressed because of the situation, my kids started panicking and then immediately I called the police.
The police talk to the host and told the police that I have booked only for one night. The police asked me to provide proof of booking and proof of payment which I did immediately. Upon verification, the police instructed the man not to come near us or to harass us or knock on the door.
