We were so lucky to spend our family vacation at the beautiful Lavender Suite at Athos Retreat. From the moment we arrived, Manolis and his family made us feel genuinely welcome and cared for. Their warmth, attentiveness and willingness to help made our stay truly special.
The rooms are beautifully designed, clean, airy and spacious, with a lovely attention to detail. The breakfast buffet is generous and delicious, and it was always served with a smile, along with great recommendations for places to visit and things to do in the area.
We also loved the opportunity to try local products made by the family — a wonderful way to experience a little more of the authentic Cretan lifestyle.
If you are looking to escape the city, leave the stress behind and immerse yourself in the peace and remoteness of the Asterousia Mountains, this is truly the place to be. The surrounding area is full of hidden treasures: hiking trails, the impressive Ambas Gorge and its seasonal waterfall, breathtaking landscapes, tiny remote white churches, the fascinating human-shaped rocks, and the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the southern Cretan coast.
And after a day of exploring, there is nothing better than returning to Athos Retreat, relaxing by the pool and looking up at the incredible Cretan night sky.
Athos Retreat is a place where you can slow down, reconnect with nature and simply breathe. It is truly a beautiful place to heal the soul, and we feel very fortunate to have found it.
We wish Manolis and his family every success with this beautiful new place. Their passion, warmth and genuine desire to make their guests happy are evident in everything they do. We would absolutely love to return!

Auf der Suche nach einer Unterkunft für unsere Kreta-Reise sind wir auf dieses wunderschöne Apartment von Manolis gestoßen. Schon die Bilder haben uns überzeugt – vor Ort sah alles sogar noch schöner aus. Die Unterkunft ist liebevoll eingerichtet, sehr sauber und man fühlt sich vom ersten Moment an wohl.
Das absolute Highlight war jedoch Manolis selbst. Er ist unglaublich sympathisch, herzlich und jederzeit hilfsbereit. Man merkt sofort, dass ihm das Wohl seiner Gäste wirklich am Herzen liegt. Er bietet außerdem verschiedene Aktivitäten an, unter anderem eine Safari-Tour, die wir jedem nur wärmstens empfehlen können. Es war ein unvergessliches Erlebnis und definitiv eines der Highlights unseres Urlaubs.
Wer Hunde liebt, wird sich außerdem über Max und die beiden anderen Vierbeiner freuen, die einen herzlich begrüßen und sofort für gute Laune sorgen.
Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt in vollen Zügen genossen und würden jederzeit wiederkommen. Vielen Dank, Manolis, für die tolle Gastfreundschaft!
