Very easy self-check in. Very comfortable bed. Good bath (which is rare in hotels and b&bs lately). Facilities and supplies all great. Great facilities including a tower fan, which was most welcome.
Loud music noise from the 'Indian restaurant'* downstairs already playing when I checked in at 3pm, 2 hours before the establishment opened, and went onuntil 11pm after which banging doors went on until around 1.30am. The bedroom had had its door removed (there was just a main door into a short entrance lobby leading tothe bathroom and bedroom) which made the noise even harder to block. I had to use over-the-ear noise cancelling headphones AND lively podcasts to block it out. It certainly wasn't the 'deluxe room' offered. It was very basic and there were a number of DIY jobs needing to be done including torn, raised linoleum and raised screwheads in it in the bathroom, which I cut my foot on.
I'd booked a further out of town stay than usual for more peace and quiet, but it was the noisiest stay I've ever had in Southwell.
*Although the establishment is advertised on Booking.com and online generally as an Indian restaurant, and I don't doubt that it is, every bit of publicity on arrival including a selection of menus in the room was entirely for their cocktail bar and huge range of alcoholic beverages - no mention whatsoever of food. If I had known it was primarily a drinking establishment, there is no way I would have booked it.
