Castel de Grafeuille

Bijzonder aardige betrokken eigenaren van het Castel, het magnifieke uitzicht vanaf ons eigen terras, straatje naar beneden lopen en kunnen zwemmen in de Dordogne, uitstekend frans ontbijt met knapperig vers stokbrood en home made jam en vers gekookt eitje. Het Castel is gerenoveerd maar met behoud van authentieke details en met een verrassende smaakvolle inrichting, in elk hoekje valt wat te beleven. Prima bedden. Kortom: een echte aanrader!!

Originalité de l'hébergement, convivialité et partage avec les propriétaires, l'authenticité, la situation idyllique, le calme. Bref, on a tout aimé.

Rien. Cher voyageur, si tu recherches un hébergement hightech avec les gadgets tendances, télévision, etc., passes ton chemin, c'est pas pour toi.

Le cadre extrêmement pittoresque, et l’accueil de nos hôtes qui du fait de notre arrivée tardive un soir d’orage ont improvisé un dîner. Le site au dessus de la Dordogne est splendide et très ressourçant, et la demeure ancienne splendidement retapée a vraiment une âme ( et aussi une chapelle!) nous regrettons simplement de n’être restés qu’une nuit, il vaut le coup de rester plus longtemps…

Ideally situated in a very peaceful location, this property offers stunning views of the Dordogne river, and surrounding woods. The castle has retained its period charm, and has not been renovated or modernised beyond recognition. The owners were most welcoming, and provided us with an improvised, tasty, home-cooked evening meal (delicious cèpe omelette!😋) at the drop of a hat, although we hadn’t booked this in advance! Our room was comfortable and clean. We had a private access to an outside terrace with deck chairs overlooking the water and garden. Hearty breakfast with local honey, and home-made jams. Altogether good value for money!

There were a few troublesome moskitos, but our hosts kindly supplied us with a natural spray which kept them at bay during our evening meal on the terrace! The owners still have some way to go to renovate the outbuildings of the castle, but we were not affected by the works. Our bathroom was simple, but fully functional, with good water pressure in the shower. On the minus side, there was no elevator, which could pose some difficulties for visitors with mobility problems.
