The roof top bar with swimming pool was excellent, and had a very good back, neck and shoulder massage by Maria in the spa facility, which was an excellent price. The buffet style breakfast had so much choice. We had a free room upgrade with sea view. The reception staff were very nice. The room was newly refurbished with a very comfortable bed.

Comfortable beds, plenty of hot water and a good shower pressure, a friendly welcome, a book library and a delicious Greek breakfast. The roof terrace and bar were a bonus and the swimming pool, although not Olympic-sized !, was a delightful place for several lengths, and a first rate view over the town and port! I would heartily recommend this hotel for its situation, and for the fact that at the time of our visit, it was still much loved by Greek families. A previous post has mentioned that the breakfast room was not particularly welcoming ... this may be true, but it's clean, has plenty of chairs and tables and the ladies responsible for it fill up the buffet selections quickly and clear the tables efficiently; the room is intended for more than just breakfasts ... festivals and celebrations ... so has to be reasonably neutral in decoration, and to expect the large variety of cold and hot dishes, fruits and breads (plenty of different ones to choose from) to be transferable to the roof garden would just not be possible. In these days of 'international' travel, it's easy to 'copy and paste' dining room decor in chain hotels throughout the world, but this is a Greek hotel, and therefore thankfully keeps to the traditions and requirements of its country, culture and local needs. I certainly would stay here again.
The local council have changed the road system so that the hotel is surrounded by pedestrian areas with no direct vehicle access. Whilst this makes the area much more enjoyable for walking and admiring the statues and flowers, it makes it very challenging to get close up to for example to drop off luggage, or for guests with limited mobility. Google maps has not caught up on this yet so it's frustrating on arrival. However, there is good news ... park in the free public car park nearby or contact the reception ahead of arrival to ask how to get to the hotel's private parking. Michaelis (and other members of the reception team) speak excellent English so don't be afraid to telephone ahead.

The hotel has an excellent location right in the very center of the city, which is definitely its strongest point. Also the rooftop is impeccable for a relaxing coffee. The room was clean and somewhat refreshed, and the bathrooms appear to have been recently renovated.However, most of the hotel's facilities and common areas feel quite old and only partially refurbished
What surprised me the most was the old-fashioned attitude especially the general manager. For example, there wasn't even a complimentary bottle of water in the room. When I mentioned this, the response from the general manager was simply, "We don't have time," which I found both unprofessional and disappointing.Overall, the hotel is acceptable because of its prime location and renovated bathrooms, but the service mentality feels outdated and does not match modern hospitality standards. Breakfast is also slightly bearable
