Serene Haven Villa is a great place located next to Jayasumanarama. It is about a 10 min walk to the main road and is nestled in a very lush and tropical setting. The owner is a genius and has built two units on the top floor while construction is going on in the bottom two floors. During my stay, the construction did not bother me and only on one day did they have some serious drilling. The staff that run this are some of the most authentic and lovely people you will meet. Communication with them on WhatsApp was great. They helped me bring things that weren't there in the BNB (minor ones) and also helped me do laundry. All I had to do was keep it outside bag and in a day or two, a freshly laundered bag would be deposited for me. There are a lot of "home businesses" here that open their doors to help tourists. From that angle, there's ample food all around this place and lots of cafes within a 10 min walking distance. If you walk 10 min, you will get to Matara-Galle road from where you can go pretty much anywhere in Sri Lanka (Colombo, Galle, Weligama, Mirissa, and beyond). The AC in the room worked really well and cooled the room in just a few minutes. It was even enough to keep it on a dehumidifying low setting. Fans and all other fixtures are modern. The area gets super quiet at night. If you don't like deep-quiet, it's something to think about. There's almost no white noise at all. The kitchen could be a bit better with a tiny fridge and a microwave in there.. Those two are missing currently but I am sure the owner will add them in the due course of time.
The kitchen could be better equipped by adding a microwave and a fridge.
