The Space:

The main floor is one big gathering room under vaulted ceilings and skylights: a floor-to-ceiling river-rock fireplace, leather sofas, a dining table that seats the whole group, and a granite-island kitchen with double wall ovens and a dishwasher. Sliders open onto the long covered deck, where a stacked-stone outdoor fireplace, red-cushioned lounge seating and the grill make a second living room in the trees, dry even when it rains. The hot tub sits just below, on a paver patio against the fern-covered hillside.



Downstairs is the game level: projector and big screen, arcade cabinet, shuffleboard, foosball, darts, a poker set, and a closet full of board games, plus twin sleeping spaces for overflow. It runs a few degrees cooler, which is exactly what you want after a day on the mountain.



Bedrooms work for grown-ups: three kings and a queen, each with its own TV, and four full bathrooms, one with a jetted corner tub. Four twin beds in the loft above the game level give kids their own corner. Washer and dryer are in the house.



Guest Access:

Self check-in with the smart lock at the main guest entrance beside the garage; your reservation-specific code arrives with the check-in details. Park in the wide gravel driveway, with garage space available.



The Neighborhood:

Rhododendron is the quiet stretch of the Mt Hood corridor. The Old Salmon River Trail and Wildwood Recreation Site are minutes away for easy, beautiful walks. For dinner, locals do the Zigzag Inn, the Whistle Stop, and Skyway Bar & Grill; Government Camp and the Huckleberry Inn are about 15 minutes up the hill. Trillium Lake, Mirror Lake, Skibowl, and Timberline are all within a half hour.



Getting Around:

You'll want a car. The cabin is just off Hwy 26, about 75 minutes from Portland. Park in the wide driveway, with garage space available. In winter, carry chains or traction tires for the mountain highway.



Other Things to Note:

Central A/C and heat throughout; please keep the A/C set at 67°F or above. The lower game level runs a few degrees cooler than the main floors, which most guests love in summer.



Up to two dogs are welcome; please add pets to your reservation.



The river isn't on the property; Salmon River access points are a short drive away.



Interaction with Guests:

We're available by message anytime and typically respond within minutes. We're local to Portland and happy to help with anything - from restaurant recommendations to a quick answer at midnight when you can't find something. We keep a hands-off approach unless you need us, and when you do, we're right there.
