Anaqa is not just a Riad it’s a palace! The property has been beautifully prepared. The decor is chic and each room has been individually styled. It harks to an era of Art Deco but with modern touches and convenience. Beautiful bathrooms, such comfortable beds and first class linen, towels and robes, along with high class toiletries. The upstairs terrace and pool is a haven from the bustle of the Medina and in the mornings a place to stretch and have a dip before it gets too hot with views to The Koutoubia and refreshing in the afternoon after a day haggling in the souk or just before dinner. The location is also first class. Just a short walk to the western end of the souks and restaurants and about 10/15 minutes to Jemaa el-Fnaa and The Koutoubia.
Imane is the wonderful Riad manager, always on hand, knowledgeable and welcoming. She established an individual WApp group for our booking which kept everyone on the same page. She suggested visits, excursions and itineraries and nothing was too much trouble for her. She seemed glued to her phone as any queries were answered, it seemed, almost instantly. Valerie, the owner, is also often nearby and I suspect the driving force behind the excellence of Anaqa and its styling. A lovely lady.
This was my first visit to a Riad. It will remain the standard by which I will judge all other Riads and boutique hotels. It is luxury but not over the top, it is the highest standard of service but polite and discreet and friendly, it is the marque of distinction to which other similar properties should judge themselves by. I cannot commend Anaqa more highly than to say that I have travelled professionally for very nearly 40 years and Anaqa would be in my top 10 of places to stay.
