Arrived at 8.30pm, another couple in the lodge, wasn't cleaned between...

Location is genuinely stunning. Pine marten beautiful. Good eggs.

Another couple were in our lodge when we arrived, at 8.30pm and we were advised to drive to Plockton for a drink and she didn't know how long they'd be. Didn't clean it between them leaving and us staying. Also I thought we'd been respectful to the property but got a slamming message when we left as we'd left the grill pan dirty (it was dirty when we arrived) and some cardboard was stuck to the fridge. Let's be real though - the property is in need of a serious deep clean so I don't think cleaning a grill pan and a fridge is a bad shout. Dust everywhere and especially in the bathroom showing it's not had a good clean in a while. The shower is nackered, goes boiling hot then super cold time and time again. Bedroom stank, like to the point we had to use air freshener every night as it was quite odd putting, very very stale and wouldn't want to know how long it's been on. No fire alarm which is pretty dangerous. And back to the main point, someone was in the lodge when we got there. So no, wouldn't come back and the owner has a tendency to be extremely rude as I've seen in other reviews too.

7 / 10

A rustic retreat set in the west coast temperate rainforest.

The lodge was quite spacious and comfy for one, and well enough equipped. Lots of fowl (geese, ducks) wandering about in front and evening visits from Pine Martens.

Chalet hadn't been well cleaned. There was no wifi - didn't matter to me, but the Booking.com blurb does mention wifi. Access with a trailer is challenging due to a very steep, tight rurn off the (very) single track public road.
