The town enjoys plenty of pleasantries with traditional shopping, pub lunches and a visit to the remains of Bishop's Waltham Palace, the ancient residence of the bishop of Winchester and ruined by Oliver Cromwell. This historical palace was destroyed in 1644 but there are still extensive ruins which are worth a look.
