The beaches of Puna, Volcanoes National Park, and Hilo are reachable by car when you want to explore farther. Please note: a 31-day minimum stay applies. This is a grounded home for guests who want space, a local rhythm, and time to see the island beyond the usual postcard stops.
The Space:
This newly built four-bedroom, two-bath home sleeps eight in a bright open-concept layout set on more than two lush acres. The well-appointed kitchen has modern appliances and a spacious dining area for group meals. A generous patio, private entrance, garage, WiFi, and in-home washer and dryer give longer stays the room and ease they need. Please note: a 31-day minimum stay applies.
Guest Access:
This Keaau home offers a private entrance and its own garage parking. Pets are welcome, and in unit laundry with a washer keeps longer stays simple. The kitchen comes fully equipped, and the property sits within reach of local zoos and other east side attractions.
The Neighborhood:
Keaau is a rural, green community south of Hilo, a useful base for exploring the Puna district and the Big Island's east side. Lava Tree State Monument, Panaewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens, and Hilo Municipal Golf Course are all within about 12 miles. Hilo offers markets, restaurants, and practical errands, while Puna's coastal roads lead toward lava landscapes, tide pools, and dramatic ocean views. A car is essential here. Choose this area for breathing room, tropical scenery, and access to the island's wilder side rather than walkable resort life.
Getting Around:
Hilo International Airport is about 20 minutes away, a quick and easy drive. A rental car is recommended for reaching the Puna coast's beaches and Hilo's shopping and dining just down the road. Keaau itself is a small community with a modest walkable center, so most errands call for a short drive. Parking is generally simple and available on site.
