About this cottage rental

This period cottage is around 300 years old and was converted to a holiday home around the year 2000. It is set next to the picture-postcard stream in the medieval village of Lavenham, with its preserved medieval buildings and quaint, narrow streets. The village has a thriving community, and you’ll find many independent shops, cafes, and restaurants. Set in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, there are many tracks and trails to explore through the surrounding woodlands and fields. Just 12.5 miles away is Bury St Edmunds, with its fantastic restaurants, beautiful abbey gardens, and stunning cathedral. Sleeping two guests, this property makes a great base for couples seeking to explore Suffolk.

This property forms half of a 17th-century grain barn and retains many original features, such as exposed timber frame and mullion windows, which may or may not suit more modern tastes. The downstairs of this unique property is impressively spacious for a one-bedroom cottage in Lavenham. As you step inside, you are welcomed into the dining hall where you can sit and enjoy a morning coffee overlooking the stream. The kitchen has plenty of cooking equipment and crockery, and incorporates a dining area to one end. Lying between the kitchen and hall is a lovely cosy sitting room. Upstairs, you will find a king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room as well as a separate bathroom. The landing space has a desk that is ideal for remote working. Typically for a historic property space is more limited upstairs, where head height is a strict maximum of 6’.

Whilst there is no private outdoor space, Byes Barn is well situated for exploring the local area thanks to multiple footpaths in very close proximity. The property has private parking for two cars, which is approximately 60 metres from the front door.
