About this house rental

Built in 1954 and designed by modernist architect Eliot Noyes, the Bubble House is the last surviving of two experimental Airform houses constructed in Hobe Sound. Its reinforced-concrete shell was formed over an inflated balloon—an innovative building method developed by architect Wallace Neff. The original houses attracted national attention and were featured in TIME and LIFE magazines.

Today, the 569-square-foot dome is a comfortable, thoughtfully updated space for two. The compact, open-plan interior pairs the original curved concrete form with an updated kitchen and bathroom, new appliances, in-home laundry and polished epoxy floors.

The house sits on a private quarter-acre property with tropical landscaping, fruit trees and an outdoor shower for rinsing off after the beach.

Located directly across from Zeus Park, the Bubble House is within walking distance of local cafés, restaurants and shops. Hobe Sound Beach is approximately one mile away, or about a 30-minute walk. The setting offers a quiet coastal stay and the unusual experience of living inside a surviving piece of Florida’s modernist history.
