The original structure was built around 1885 at the prominent corner of N. Claiborne Avenue and Basin Street(previously Orleans Avenue). In 1907, Dr. Emile J. LaBranche Sr. opened LaBranche’s Drug Store which was operated on the ground level of the property, with living quarters above. It was a fully owned and operated African American business, which boasted both a wide range of clientele. The pharmacy, which was among the pioneering businesses in the area, provided opportunities for other medical doctors to start their careers. Over the years the property has served many different uses. The property received a full historic renovation; returning the building to its original grandeur.

Lyft/Uber is recommended at night. During the day, you can get around by foot or bike
