There's something special about the soundside of the Outer Banks—and at this cozy Bay Drive retreat, the sunsets are the star of the show.
Tucked along the soundfront in Kill Devil Hills, this charming 2-bedroom, 1-bath home is small, simple, and refreshingly unpretentious. Inside, a spacious open floor plan brings the living, dining, and kitchen areas together, creating an easygoing space to relax after a day exploring the Outer Banks.
But you'll probably find yourself spending most of your time outside.
Enjoy your morning coffee on the front porch, then head to the screened-in back porch overlooking the sound. With a dining table outside, it's the perfect spot for dinner with a view—and when evening rolls around, settle in for one of Bay Drive's unforgettable sunsets over the water.
Downstairs, soak in the hot tub or challenge the family to a game of ping pong or cornhole. Fishing poles and a crab net are also provided under the house for guests who want to try their luck on the water (NC Fishing License required).
Bay Drive offers a quieter side of Kill Devil Hills, known for its beautiful sound views, incredible sunsets, and laid-back neighborhood feel. The Bay Drive multi-use path makes it easy to head out for a morning walk, run, or bike ride along the sound, while nearby public sound accesses offer opportunities for fishing, kayaking, crabbing, and simply enjoying the water.
And while the setting feels tucked away from the busier side of the Outer Banks, you're still centrally located in Kill Devil Hills with beaches, restaurants, shopping, and local attractions just a short drive away. This was our second year staying at this property and we are still in love with it! Nice location on the water, beautiful sunsets, quiet neighborhood, and close to grocery stores, restaurants and shopping. The property has everything you need, is very clean and the host are very kind and prompt in responding to any questions. Would highly recommend.

Everything about our stay was wonderful! Booking was easy, checking out was easy, host was prompt in communication, property was beautiful and clean! We had everything we needed including beautiful sunsets each night! Would definitely stay at this property again!

Beautiful bay house with great views and a nice dock. House was cozy and had everything you need from fishing off the dock to relaxing in the screened in porch, enjoying the sunsets.

Perfect spot for history/ocean/food lovers. Despite the oppressive heat we ventured to the Wilbur Wright Museum, Roanoke, Duck, Corolla (saw horses!) lighthouses and more! The house was a great, close location to it all, clean, A/C worked great for our afternoon naps and comfy nights of sleep. I only wish we had more time. Next time I’d like to see Okrakoke and rent kayaks to enjoy the sound.
