The 19th Hole is a private king suite for two inside Yacht Club Villas, a gated community at Barefoot Resort in North Myrtle Beach. One king bed, one full private bathroom, its own private entrance, and a smart lock, so the room is yours from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave.

Fazio, Love, Dye and Norman are all on the property. Every one of them is minutes from the door.

WHAT THIS IS, AND WHAT IT IS NOT

Please read this part before you enquire, because it will save us both a conversation. This is a suite, not a condominium. There is no kitchen and no separate living room, and cooking is not permitted in the suite. What you have is a Nespresso-style pod coffee machine, a microwave and a mini refrigerator, which covers coffee before a tee time and a late snack after dinner and will not cook a meal. The windows look inland rather than out over the water.

For a golf trip, that is the right trade every time. You are gone from first light until the evening. A condominium gives you a kitchen you would never use and a living room to cross on the way out the door. Everything here went into the three parts of the trip where you spend your hours: the sleep, the shower, and the coffee.

THE ROOM

The bed is a king, dressed in hotel cotton linens and layered soft, with a throw across the foot that feels like cashmere. The air conditioning brings the room properly cool, and the curtains close out the afternoon whenever you please.

The bath is yours alone. A plush robe hangs on a padded hanger, Gilchrist and Soames sits on the vanity, the towels are generous, and a set of pool towels is put aside so the good ones stay in the bathroom.

The coffee is out and ready the night before, so the morning asks nothing of you. You let yourself out of your own door and go.

THE GOLF

All four Barefoot championship courses share the property. Fazio, Love, Dye and Norman are each a few minutes from the door by car, and autumn on this coast is as good as golf gets. Store your clubs in the room, leave before it is light, and come back to somewhere cool and quiet.

THE RESORT AND THE AREA

You are inside the gated Yacht Club Villas community at Barefoot Resort. Guests have access to the resort's outdoor saltwater pool, and your pool access card is waiting in the suite along with the pool towels.

Barefoot Resort sits along the Intracoastal Waterway, with walking paths and a marina where the waterfront tables and the live music are the easy answer to what to do after a round. Across the water, Barefoot Landing has the restaurants, the shops, the House of Blues and the Alabama Theatre. The North Myrtle Beach oceanfront is a few minutes by car, and in summer a complimentary resort shuttle runs to the public beach access seven days a week.

ARRIVAL

Check-in is contact-free. We send your door code, the gate code and directions before you travel, so however late you land, the door opens. Check-in is after 4:00 PM and checkout is before 11:00 AM, and there is no list of chores waiting at the end of the stay.

YOUR PRIVACY

The 19th Hole is a separate lockout suite within our residence, with its own private entrance and its own lock. The main residence and the adjoining suite are not part of your reservation and you will have no reason to enter either.

We live on site, which most of our guests end up appreciating. If the air conditioning falters or a bulb goes, someone is here in minutes rather than next week.

A Ring video doorbell sits at the suite's private entrance. It records activity at the front door only, meaning the doorway and the area directly outside it. Nothing inside the suite is recorded, and there are no cameras in any interior space at any time.

TRAVELING AS TWO COUPLES

We own the suite next door as well. The Commodore is the same size, with the same king bed, its own private entrance and its own full bathroom. Take the pair and you have two king beds and two bathrooms between you, so nobody gets the lesser room and nobody waits for a shower. Both suites are held under a single reservation. BEFORE YOU BOOK

- Maximum 2 guests
- Parking: the Homeowners Association allows one vehicle per suite and a second car cannot be accommodated. A pass is provided and must stay visible on the dash
- No cooking in the suite: no hot plates, portable burners or air fryers
- No pets
- No smoking or vaping of any kind
- No parties or events
- Quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM, out of respect for the community
- The pool access card is returned at checkout; the Homeowners Association charges $250 to replace a lost card
