About this house rental

A hidden gem amongst the Aldinga Scrub, just 500 metres from the ocean.

Kauwi Retreat is a four-bedroom sanctuary tucked into one of Aldinga Beach’s most beautiful pockets. Surrounded by native bush and established gardens, it feels incredibly private, with the ocean just a short walk away.

Inside, the home is warm, earthy and full of character. The open-plan kitchen, dining and living space opens onto an expansive deck amongst the trees, creating an easy connection between indoors and out.

Start the morning with coffee on the deck, come back sandy from the beach for a long lunch around the table, or open a bottle of wine and settle in for the afternoon. When the weather cools, light the fireplace and get cosy inside.

Sleeping eight, Kauwi has one king and three queen bedrooms. The generous king bedroom has its own ensuite, complemented by three queen bedrooms and a second bathroom.

The location makes it easy to do as much or as little as you like. Wander 500 metres down to the ocean, explore the trails through Aldinga Scrub with kangaroos galore just steps from the house, spend the day at Aldinga Beach or head along the coast to Port Willunga. McLaren Vale is just a short drive away for some of the region’s best cellar doors, restaurants and long lunches.

Hosted by Sanbis Retreats, fresh linen and towels, al.ive shampoo, conditioner and body wash, along with coffee pods are all waiting when you arrive.

Private, peaceful and tucked between the scrub and the sea.
Unpack, settle in and make yourself at home.

Kauwi Retreat is all yours during your stay with us! There is plenty of easily accessible street parking.

Self check in details will be sent the day before your arrival.

We`re local hosts and available anytime if you need us!

Tucked into a peaceful pocket of Aldinga Beach, 31 Palmer Street puts you close to the coast while giving you a beautiful taste of the area`s wild, natural side.

Step outside and you’re just a short stroll from the native Aldinga Beach Scrub, where sandy walking trails weave through ancient vegetation and local wildlife is part of the experience. Keep an eye out for kangaroos grazing nearby — a pretty special sight and one of those little moments that makes a stay here feel distinctly South Australian.

Follow the trails through the scrub towards the coast, or head straight for the beautiful sands of Aldinga Beach, just minutes away. Spend your days swimming, surfing, fishing or packing the car for an afternoon on the famous drive-on beach, then stay to watch one of the Fleurieu’s incredible sunsets over the Gulf.

Families will love having plenty to explore close to home too, with a local park and bike jumps just down the road for the kids — perfect for burning off some energy between beach adventures.

And when you’re ready to venture a little further, McLaren Vale wine country is only a short drive away, bringing world-class cellar doors, breweries, restaurants and long lunches within easy reach.

It’s the best of Aldinga Beach in one spot — kangaroos, native scrub, salty beach days and space for the kids to roam, all with the food and wine of the Fleurieu right on your doorstep.

Aldinga Beach is easy to navigate and best enjoyed at a relaxed pace. Many local highlights — including the beach, coastal walking paths, playgrounds and cafés — are within easy walking distance, making it simple to leave the car behind and soak up the seaside atmosphere.

For exploring further afield, having a car is recommended. The region is well connected by road, allowing effortless access to nearby gems such as Port Willunga, Silver Sands, Sellicks Beach and the rolling vineyards of McLaren Vale, all just a short drive away. Scenic coastal drives and winery-hopping routes are part of the experience here.
