The Neighborhood:
Cammeray is one of Sydney’s most appealing Lower North Shore neighbourhoods — leafy, peaceful and village-like, yet remarkably close to North Sydney and the CBD.
The apartment is ideally positioned close to the heart of Cammeray, where you’ll find a great selection of cafés, restaurants and casual eateries, together with everything you need for an easy stay.
Cammeray Square is nearby and home to Harris Farm Markets for excellent fresh produce and groceries, as well as a pharmacy, medical centre, bottle shop and a range of specialty stores and services.
Norths Cammeray is also right nearby, offering dining, entertainment and fitness facilities.
The surrounding Cammeray Village has plenty of everyday conveniences, including cafés, restaurants, hairdressers, barber, nail and beauty services.
For a day by the water, beautiful Balmoral Beach is approximately 10–15 minutes away by car, depending on traffic.
Cammeray also makes a convenient base for exploring Sydney’s major attractions, including the Sydney Opera House, Circular Quay, Barangaroo, the Royal Botanic Garden and Chinatown.

Getting Around:
- Getting Around from 10 Abbott Street, Cammeray
Sydney’s major attractions are accessible from 10 Abbott Street by bus, car, taxi or rideshare. Buses connect Cammeray with North Sydney, Crows Nest, Neutral Bay and the CBD, while North Sydney provides additional train, metro and bus services.
Before travelling, check the Transport for NSW Trip Planner or Google Maps for current routes, service updates and traffic-sensitive journey times. Travel times may vary with traffic, road conditions, events and public transport disruptions, so allow extra time during peak periods, weekends, holidays and major events.
- Sydney CBD, Circular Quay, the Harbour Bridge and The Rocks
The CBD is approximately 5–7 kilometres from 10 Abbott Street, while Circular Quay, the Sydney Opera House, the Harbour Bridge and The Rocks are generally around 6–8 kilometres away, depending on the route. By car, taxi or rideshare, allow approximately 15–35 minutes, with longer journeys possible during busy periods.
By bus, travel via North Sydney or directly towards the city, then walk or connect with local public transport. Circular Quay provides access to the Opera House, harbour ferries, waterfront walks and Harbour Bridge views. The Rocks offers historic laneways, restaurants, markets and harbour views, while the bridge can be crossed on foot or explored through BridgeClimb.
- Royal Botanic Garden, Barangaroo and Darling Harbour
The Royal Botanic Garden, Barangaroo and Darling Harbour are generally around 6–9 kilometres away by road. By car, taxi or rideshare, allow approximately 20–35 minutes, depending on traffic and your destination.
By public transport, travel towards the CBD, Wynyard or Circular Quay, then walk or connect with local services. The Royal Botanic Garden features peaceful paths and harbour views, Barangaroo offers waterfront dining, parklands and walks, and Darling Harbour provides restaurants, museums, family attractions and evening entertainment.
- Taronga Zoo
Taronga Zoo is approximately 7–10 kilometres away by road. By car, taxi or rideshare, allow around 20–35 minutes, depending on traffic. Alternatively, travel to Circular Quay and take the ferry to Taronga Zoo Wharf. The crossing is scenic and usually takes about 12 minutes, followed by the zoo shuttle or a short but uphill walk to the entrance. Allow additional time to reach Circular Quay, wait for the ferry and account for service conditions.
- North Sydney and Crows Nest
North Sydney and Crows Nest are the closest major commercial and dining areas, generally around 5–15 minutes away by car, taxi or bus. Both offer cafés, restaurants, supermarkets and shops, with connections to the CBD. North Sydney is also a major transport interchange with train, metro and bus services. Do not miss visiting Kirribilli, Luna Park waterfront ect
- Manly
The most scenic route to Manly is via Circular Quay and ferry. Travel to Circular Quay by bus, taxi or rideshare, then take a fast ferry, which generally takes around 20 minutes, or a standard ferry, which usually takes approximately 30 minutes. Allow extra time for the journey to Circular Quay and ferry waiting times.
Manly offers beaches, cafés, restaurants, shops and access to the Manly to Spit coastal walk.
- Bondi Beach
Bondi Beach is approximately 13–16 kilometres away by road. By car, taxi or rideshare, allow around 35–60 minutes, although traffic can cause significant delays.
By public transport, travel through the CBD to Bondi Junction, then connect with a bus to the beach. The journey commonly takes around 50–75 minutes, depending on connections and waiting times. Bondi offers swimming, sunbathing, coastal walks, cafés and restaurants.
- Local Travel Tips
An Opal card or accepted contactless credit or debit card can be used on public transport. Buses are often the most convenient option from Cammeray, while ferries provide a scenic way to travel around Sydney Harbour.
Taxis and rideshare services are useful for direct trips, luggage and evening travel. Bus and ferry timetables, road conditions, traffic and temporary service changes can affect journey times and directions. Cammeray provides a quiet, leafy base within easy reach of Sydney’s beaches, harbour landmarks, cultural attractions and entertainment precincts.
