Living in an all-wood cottage beside a forest lake is a dream shared by many Canadians. For us, that dream became a reality after five years of dedication and hard work, as we built our retirement home, Happyforest, entirely from wood.

Perched on a natural rocky rise, the cottage enjoys an open setting, fresh air, and spectacular views in every direction. Large windows throughout the home frame the surrounding landscape, bringing the beauty of the forest and lake indoors and allowing you to experience the changing scenery from almost every room.

The master bedroom, second bedroom, kitchen, and spacious deck all face Kushog Lake, offering sweeping views of the lake and its changing beauty throughout the year. From the cottage, you can admire the island at the heart of the lake, the surrounding forests, and the peaceful rhythm of nature.

On the southern side of the cottage, the living room and guest room overlook quiet woodlands, creating a peaceful and private atmosphere. The property also borders approximately 2,500 acres of Crown land, opening the door to countless opportunities for outdoor exploration. Step outside and discover the surrounding wilderness through hiking, boating, fishing, wildlife watching, and nature exploration—or simply enjoy the tranquility of the forest.

Newly constructed and entirely wood-built, Happyforest was thoughtfully handcrafted using modern architectural techniques while paying tribute to the traditional craftsmanship of early British settlers.

The cottage spans two stories plus a full basement, with ceilings of at least nine feet on every level, creating a spacious and comfortable atmosphere throughout. Each level has its own entrance and is equipped with essential living facilities, including a kitchen, bathroom, and bedrooms.

While inspired by traditional craftsmanship, Happyforest offers the conveniences of modern living. Guests can enjoy Wi-Fi, central heating, and a wood-burning fireplace, providing warmth and comfort during cool evenings and cold winter days.

The cottage is supplied by a newly drilled 320-foot-deep well, providing a reliable source of fresh water. The water quality is professionally certified every year to ensure that it remains safe, clean, and dependable.
