Town: Boat of Garten is a small village situated in the Cairngorms National Park near the River Spey. Due to its rural location, the village is a great base for those seeking to discover the impressive, rugged landscape of the region and the abundance of wildlife that resides here. Due to its close proximity to the large population of Ospreys at RSPB: Loch Garten, the village is also known as Osprey Village. In the village itself, you can find the family run 1896 Gallery, Anderson's Restaurant, a shop with a cafe and The Boat Hotel where you spend an evening dining out in style. Enjoy fishing on the River Spey, or play a round of golf at the Boat of Garten Golf and Tennis Club, which boasts an 18-hole course designed by professional golfer and golf-course architect, James Braid. The village is a short drive from the town of Aviemore, where you can enjoy outdoor activities all year round; enjoy skiing in the winter months, or walk, climb and cycle through the summer. Also nearby is the Caledonian Pine Forest, with many marked walks and trails to explore. Boat of Garten is a wonderful spot from which to enjoy a holiday exploring this stunning national park.
