Some Orlando homes have a themed room. Villa Blockbuster has a whole house of them, and the result is a seven-bedroom Solara Resort stay that kids talk about for the rest of the trip. The game room sets the tone with a full-size pool table under a wall of comic-book heroes, and the bedrooms keep it going with a dinosaur expedition, a school for young wizards, an island voyage, and a few classic storybook touches that the under-tens will recognize on sight. The main floor is built for a crowd. An open kitchen with an island and barstool seating looks across to a long dining table and a sunken living area with deep sectionals and a big screen, so dinner, dessert, and the movie afterward all happen within earshot of each other. Two king bedrooms sit on this level, with a hall bath close by, which makes them easy picks for grandparents or anyone who would rather skip the stairs. A full laundry room for your convenience. Upstairs, five more bedrooms spread the group out. There is a queen room, a king room, a room with two queen beds and its own ensuite, and two twin rooms that share a Jack-and-Jill bath, which is where the themed bunks and murals tend to land. Six full bathrooms and a powder room across the house mean nobody is waiting in a hallway before a park day. All in, the home sleeps 16. Out back, a screened lanai wraps the private pool and spa, with a covered dining area and loungers for the hours between parks. The screen keeps the bugs out and the afternoon sun manageable, so the pool gets used from breakfast to well after dark. As a Solara Resort home, Villa Blockbuster also comes with access to the resort's amenity center: a resort-style pool, the FlowRider surf simulator, a splash pad and water slides, a fitness center, basketball and volleyball courts, and a restaurant, coffee bar, and ice cream parlor at the clubhouse. It is a lot of vacation without leaving the gates. When you do leave, you are on the quiet western edge of the Disney area. Disney's Animal Kingdom is about 15 minutes away, with Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney Springs not far beyond it. Universal Orlando is roughly half an hour. Island H2O Water Park and the shops and restaurants of Sunset Walk are a ten-minute drive, and the Highway 192 corridor through Old Town Kissimmee has the dinner shows, mini golf, and souvenir stops that round out a Central Florida week.
