Rooms need an update no watercraft, tennis court unusable, missing many things on drinks menu, no info on relationship with golf club, - they just weren’t at all ready to open for the season

It was a restful 3-day stay

We like the property and the staff. Our room needed a second chair. The breakfasts needed some variety from one day to the next. Service in the dining room was very slow, but the staff was courteous.

Superb

Windermere is a beautiful spot with friendly staff, great food and awesome views. We were disappointed that the pub was not open when we were there. It opens on the Thursday and we arrived on the Tuesday. We have stayed at Windermere before and have sat outside on the pubs patio. Will make sure it’s open on our next visit.

Classic Hotel, as good as it was 20 years ago. Maybe better.

Windermere is the class of Muskoka if you're looking for a getaway at a boutique hotel. Large by that standard, it has very good facilities. A well-run restaurant with very good food, also a pub operating Thu-Sun, an integrated spa, and there's a golf course across the street. Of course you have the lake and can get out on there with hotel kayaks or rent a boat and so forth. The hotel is in an old style but due to a movie filming mishap, is new from the ground up. Which means it has the feel of a classic old place, and yet has modern amenities and structure, so the rooms are very quiet. Beds very comfortable with nice linens.

There are a few aspects around the edges that could use some love, for instance the separate stone staircase that is nearest the marina is not weeded or kept up. Things like that. Drinks took a while because the bartendar was new/training, but that's the sort of staffing issue you'll find all over these days.

Overall it is a nice property with some needed updates. The dining concierge was rude.

The location is perfect, right on the lake, and easy transport by car from Toronto. The property and the rooms are very nice.

The bathrooms need updating, the air conditioning is not effective, and the staff in the dining room for breakfast (especially the concierge) were snarly and not very pleasant.

Dinner was great. Server terrific.

Check in was poor. Was told the room wasnt ready but we would be called when it was. 2 hours later i had to inquire. New person was at the desk. We then learned we could have used the bikes or facilities but it was then too late in the day. The room is a garden view but really a driveway view. Room is clean but drab. Bathroom clean but old.

My husband and I came here for a quick getaway during our honeymoon. I had been here before for dinner and the food was amazing. Since then however, it seems to have gone downhill. We were underwhelmed every step of the way and of course we know times are tough because of COVID but we felt like our expectations were just not met. The food was nothing special, there was only a coffee pot in our room - no tea or milk, no microwave, no fridge, no dvd player which was supposed to be included. For a regular stay, it would have been a nice place to rest your head but considering we were there for our honeymoon, I was disappointed. Probably will not be coming here again.

Restaurants and main facilities were nice and well maintained. We enjoyed being able to borrow kayaks one morning. Staff were friendly and helpful, but not consistent in wearing masks throughout the property.

The room was uninspiring and not worth the nightly rate. The bed was very uncomfortable. We had a garden view room through the tiniest of windows, which meant there was very little natural light in the room. The bathroom was clean, but the water pressure in the shower was awful. The window sill in the bathroom was directly in the spray of the shower where you could see water damage and mould. The room didn’t even have a mini fridge to keep water cold on a particularly hot weekend.

Great accommodations and service!! Food, staff and rooms - are excellent!

Two points of improvements - no vents in the bathrooms, this would take it to 5 stars if done, and access to the lake for swimming.

All in all it was a lovely place to spend our honeymoon

The location was the best. We enjoyed the water craft and the amenities that Lake Roseau has to offer.

There should not be such a high corkage fee for bringing your own wine to the table. That is a definite discouragement.

Restful quiet as we wanted.

Breakfast had lots of variety. Service was excellent!!

The toast was unbuttered and very dry. Sometimes burnt. Coffee was too strong.

I would not stay here again - far too expensive for what is, at best, a two- or three-star hotel.

The location is beautiful, and the wait staff was friendly, though inconsistent in quality.

The food was mediocre and the service, while friendly, was not effective (food / drink orders had to be repeated and some were forgotten). The room was exceptionally basic and not at all the quality I would have expected given the pricing of the hotel. The TV stand in the room had clear water damage, the TV was tiny and the cable system very basic, there was no fridge, and the shower curtain in the bathroom was hung too far away from the tub, and so was not functional.

Meals were disappointing.

Great location. Friendly staff.

Staff was new and inexperienced. We had to ask multiple times for clean towels. Dessert for $15 looked like something from the kid’s menu. Continental breakfast was a croissant,apple turnover and an orange. The Inn looks like it is becoming very run down due to the lack of maintenance. Cracks in our room’s ceiling due to water damage and paint peeling throughout the building exterior. Free wifi that you can not connect to. We ended up eating at local restaurants since we were not able to reserve our preferred seating times although we noticed the restaurant had lots of seating available during those times. We also were advised of the poor quality of the meals by other guests before we even checked in. For $475 a night we were expecting better.

Great service, staff and food. Beautiful property. Rooms are a little dated.

The staff were very professional, attentive and friendly. The beds were very comfortable. We also enjoyed the balcony and view of the lake.

It seemed excessive to charge us to get a fridge in our room, which should be a standard for a top end resort.

Very Comfortable in a pretty setting.

We missed the breakfast .... we didn't realize it was included. We enjoyed Lunch/Dinner very good.

It would have been nice for the front staff to let lus know that breakfast was included.

Second stay at Windermere

The property is gorgeous with love gardens and view of the lake. The staff are attentive, professional and friendly; many faces we recognized from previous visits. The balcony was very nice, with seating and a great view. The restaurants/food was very good.

Our room, while very nice, was a bit dated. The room we paid less for last visit was much nicer and more updated, even though it didn’t have a balcony.
