Superbe expérience

Le petit-déjeuner était très complet. Le rapport qualité prix était très bon. Il est possible de se rendre au centre-ville rapidement. L'hôtel était propre.

Honestly slay 💅best hostel I’ve ever been to. Most things are extremely clean and the price is worth it.

The single cell room is a bit too small, I’ll probably try the dorm next time. The shower was decent but also a bit small.

Belle expérience pour une nuit

Dans l'ensemble le séjour a été correct. L'emplacement est vraiment idéal. - L'emplacement dans le centre - le parking ( attention 20$/ nuits) - l'expérience - la propreté Pour résumer très bien pour une nuit mais pas plus et si vous êtes claustrophobe ne pas y aller.

En ce qui concerne les points négatifs : - il faisait beaucoup trop chaud dans la cellule - La visite de la prison qui n'est faite qu'en anglais alors qu'on nous demande qu'elle langue on parle et que le guide nous a parlé en français juste avant la visite. - Assez bruyant - le petit déjeuner un peu pauvre

I enjoyed it very much.

Location is convenient to everything. People were diverse, friendly. interesting, kind. There was a very peaceful atmosphere.

The doorlock to my eight-person room on the seventh floor was difficult to operate with my key - and I often reflected that the door itself should simply be removed.

Definitely an adventure.

The fresh paint on the walls, the clean linens, the wonderful cafeteria and bagels, and the warmth of that room and the company, the front desk was fantastic. The showers were clean. What else could you ask for?

My door stuck and made a lot of noise opening and closing it, and I really had to force the door open push my full weight against it, which is sort of funny, but prevented me from going to the bathroom at night fear that I might wake somebody up

Definitiv einen Besuch wert

Das Hostel ist einzigartig in der Architektur, toll ausgestattet und vor allem sauber. Das Personal war sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Vor allem die Jail-Tour mit Simon war ein Highlight - sehr zu empfehlen.

unique experience that IMHO isn't worth what they are charging, definitely a one-night only place

The location is great, and the history of the building makes it a unique experience.

a) the beds are not for tall people, I'm 6'4", my feet were dangling out with the end of the mattress pushing into my achilles heels. b) it's noisy, despite all the "shush" and "quiet" signs, another person in an adjacent cell/room was on the phone half the night, additionally my room was close to a bathroom with an open door, and the automated toilet flushes rather loud (why don't they install a swing door for the bathroom ?) c) the duvet cover was freshly washed, but it still had a visible mould stain d) I chose to leave a day early but couldn't get a refund because of me having booked online. I accepted that... but then they had the audacity to ask if I would check out before 11:00, so that they could clean (and possibly re-rent) the room on the day that I still had paid for.

This Hostel felt super comfy and welcoming. The Jail tour is a absolute must for everyone staying!

No plant based milk at breakfast. Maybe they already added that now ;)

Friendly and super helpful staff Perfect location

-No place to meet more people, if you are solo it sucks -No elevator (!) It was exhusting every time -In peak hour - please clean shower more often -There is no switch to turn on light in shower and one time it turned off in the middle :( -AC in the room is an old one and made SO much noise , in general you can hear floors and ppl walking. But i guess that's cause it was a jail , just be aware if you are sensitive to noise

Fun. Cool place to stay in a great area of a great city

The tour was fantastic. And Simon the guide was great.

I would have liked if they had some jail gruel to try at breakfast. The breakfast was a good start to the day.

Pleasant

We liked the tour, the history of the place was great, and the location was very convenient.

The hallway lights were very bright and shone through the partial doors the whole night, making sleep pretty much impossible. It was also extremely cold, and the bedding was very thin.

3 nights in Jail

It is a nice theme to try for 1 night stay max. Staff were very accommodating and helped with everything they could

Unfortunately, nice staff does not make for a hostel that was clearly not ready to reopen yet. Woken up the first morning at 7am from all construction going on. Rooms are cells so you can hear EVERYTHING. Unless everyone whispers, you will hear everyone staying in the corridor. Gents toilets door does not close, so can only feel sorry for those in single rooms, cause they get to hear everythjng. Sensor in the toilet always goes off too early, so you are left in the dark every single time to finish up your business. No heating in the building, kitchen unfinished and no hot water in the showers, only warmish water. Communal area has no soft seating, TV, music or anything to relax a bit. We stayed 3 nights, so what seems like a good experience, turned to hell pretty quick. And all of the above, unfortunately nothing the staff could have helped with and I feel sorry for them cause it could be really good. But they should have waited to complete works before reopening as currently, it is not value for money.

Disappointing

Staff was friendly and the bathroom was clean.

Too noisy at night, the shower didn't have a space for clothes, and it wasn't clean.

Interesting

The location of the hostel is spot on, the Rideau Centre is 5mins walk, all the good stuff and eateries are walking distances. It also has secured entry that gets updated with a code daily. The Internet was pretty effective too, no spotty connections.

Breakfast can be improved on.
