I liked the beds. They were comfortable and the room was clean. The new reno was good.

I think breakfast should be til 10 or 10 30 am. Also I would serve rounded sausages rather than flat ones. The kitchen area could have been longer rather than a small square shape. It got crowded. I would hang pictures above both beds and not all the same theme. The mirror should have been hung by itself. I would change the small light to a roller one on the desk. I heard someone stole one.

This place opened too soon. It was not ready for guests, especially the number of guests that were there when we stayed. Most of the signs were printed on paper and taped to doors, the rooms had no clocks or coffee-makers. The hotel is located between TWO garage stations, so there isn't much local colour. If you're on the first floor and like a little privacy, keep your curtains closed because your room is basically in the parking lot. The rooms are brand-new so they were nice but a bit small. Breakfast was a disaster. There was only one woman handling a buffet breakfast for at least 15 people and she was overwhelmed. She was a very sweet lady but she needed help. The toaster was a cheap, two slice model that barely toasted anything, so there was a line for toast! There was cereal, but no milk. The buffet was poorly set up so there was no flow. Paper plates and wooden utensils might be eco-friendly but make it hard to cut a sausage. All that being said, the staff were lovely. Very pleasant and very helpful. It felt like they were being set up for failure because whoever owns this hotel hasn't given them the right tools to do their job. I hope that the management read this and realize that the staff are doing the absolute best they can. I like Port Hope and there aren't many hotels in the area, so I might return because I was treated so nicely, but management really needs to get it together.

It would be nice to have a coffee maker and a clock in the rooms. I don't want to have to get dressed and go down the hall if I want a cup of tea before going to bed. Have a special pet-friendly floor, so that you don't have to listen to a dog barking if you didn't bring one yourself. Get another staff person to work the breakfast shift. It's too much for one person and the space is very small and gets very crowded, very quickly. Keep the staff; they're the best thing about the place.
