breakfast was very good - plentiful with lots of choices (ham and sausages, eggs etc.) Supper was mediocre at the in-house restaurant. I think the bistro next door would have been a better choice. The grounds are huge and gorgeous - Lots of sitting spaces overlooking the river. We allso very much appreciated the one hour free use of a kayak/canoe very near by. Beautiful view from our room overlooking the river. Very nice lounges on each floor to sit in, so you don't need to stay in your little bedroom.

the room was very small and the bed was only a double (i.e. not queen) size. We thought we had booked a room with a private bathroom, but somehow that didn't happen. There are very few rooms with private baths and they don't have AC, which the regular bedrooms have. However, there are very many bathrooms and showers on each floor, each with a solid door, so you have privacy, although they are mixed gender.

I used to be able to walk on trails to the other end of the island and this time everything was blocked of with high fences. I was still able to walk through the grounds however not nearly as far as before.

The location is very charming. The property is located on an island surrounded by greenery with a beautiful lake view. The building is a bit old, but still perfectly acceptable. Breakfast was included and quite good. The location is a little outside Montreal, but excellent for the price.

The room organization was a complete mess. We paid a higher price on Booking to have a room with a private bathroom. Upon arrival, without even informing us, we were assigned a room that turned out to have no bathroom at all. We immediately went to the front desk, where three other guests were either facing the same issue or, even worse, had no room assigned at all. At the desk, we were simply told, without much apology or concern, that Booking and Expedia had overbooked the rooms with private bathrooms, and that this issue had already been happening for a few days. We spent the first night in the room without a bathroom, and from the second night onward, after our polite request, they provided us with another room with a private bathroom. This is the reason why the overall rating is a 5 and not a 2 or 3. In the following days, we saw other guests experiencing the exact same problem. The absurd part is that, since the issue happened across multiple booking platforms, the responsibility clearly lies with the property itself. On top of that, once they realized the issue during the first days, they still did not contact future guests in advance. In summary: if you are looking for a room with a shared bathroom, go ahead and book it. If you specifically want a private bathroom, think twice and contact the property beforehand.
