Insects, barefoot kids with no shirts or shoes, but beautiful room decor and a caring staff

I liked the decor in the room which was modern, attractive and very new: It looked like new paint. The cable TV was nice. The microwave and refrigerator were nice. The waffles in the breakfast area were nice. The coffee was good. The yogurt and apples were good. The two manager types at the front desk seemed genuinely interested in how things were going for me. The staff cares. The people at the front desk kept asking me for details so I provided them. One said that they were in the middle of some 'retrofitting' so it's safe during rainstorms and there was constant visible work the whole time I was there. Kudos to the women who worked at the hotel. When I asked them for something, they helped me right away and had good attitudes.

I found four insects in the room: Two were dead, oddly a good thing, and on the air conditioning unit. One was, I think, an ant and that crawled out of the AC unit however, I only saw one "ant" the whole time. The other bug was a brown beetle-like creature in the bathroom but only on the last day. It's the hot humid South and I think when people open the doors to go outside, sometimes bugs fly in. Since I saw one of those I wasn't super worried about it. Regarding the brown bug, I have never seen one of those in California. There were some young kids with their parents. I didn't like that the ones who were around 7 years old had no shoes and no shirt every time I saw them over the days. The kids were cute and nice, and so were their parents, so I looked past their 'relaxed' looks and appreciated that they were very nice and good kids. Normally when kids are in hotel parking lots, they have shirts and shoes. Again, this could be because it's hot in the South compared to where I live that has very little humidity. The hallway floors squished when I walked. Hopefully, the owners check on the floors and make sure they are safe. On the other hand the floors were very nicely cleaned. The elevator had gross mess in it once at night but when I reported it to the housekeeper she cleaned it right away! Impressive. The staff cares!

Fit the bill for what I needed.

The hotel was a little confusing upon arrival but that got worked out quite well. The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. The facilities seemed to be being worked on but that was not a distraction

It is what it is

I liked the rates. I like the location. I like the staff.

I didn't like the bedding.The blanket was very thin. I didn't like the bathroom.. I feel as if the tub could have been more cleaner. I think you should also give out better quantity of wash clothes and towels; especially when a guest is staying for several nights.

Hotel of horrors

2 words! Ghetto hotel! The rooms were nothing like the photos documented on the website. We were not able to use the pool or did a maid even come and clean our rooms or make our beds. Refrigerator leaked, room smelled like urine and cigarettes. Pets are allowed!!! Which was not presented on the website. The bathroom was horrible and was nasty.. I did not take a shower because it looked unsanitary. Small towels and not even enough wash clothes. Breakfast was not good and they lock the lobby up at night do to the suspicious activity at night. Do not bring ur family or kids here... I wouldn't want my pet to stay here..... I repeat DO NOT STAY HERE IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!

Nasty!

Absolutely nothing!

The pictures online look nothing like they do in person. They really need to update their website to show how the hotel look in the day time. The first room they gave me was horrible, the fire alarm battery needed to be replaced, the bath tub was dirty, condom wrappers in the breeze way. The room had a bad smell, the second room toilet was so nasty my son wouldn't use the bathroom; had to shower with out crocs on because the bathtub was full of someone else hair. Nothing worked!!! I will never stay there ever again!!! It was so bad we left!!

Pleasant

The breakfest was very good. However, the area seemed a little sketchy, like I would not have wanted to be alone. There was a half naked man outside his room in a wheelchair yelling when we first arrived, and many people outside their rooms smoking, even though there were designated smoking areas. The staff was very helpful though, and made sure we had everything we needed. Our shampoo bottle was half used when we got our room, but the rest of the place was clean.

Would never recommend this hotel, nor stay again.

The only good thing was the closeness to Duke Hospital.

The only reason we chose this hotel was for the free shuttle to Duke hospital and the pool. when we arrived the pool was closed and they stopped offering a hospital shuttle two years ago per the manager. The bed was awful. The towels were very thin and old and left fuzz balls all over our bodies. The floors are very uneven The continental breakfast had no meat options, only eggs and waffles for hot items. The housekeeper was mopping the floor with a towel wrapped around a broom. We travel quite a bit and this was by far the worst hotel we’ve stayed at.

I RECOMMEND NO ONE TO STAY HERE.

IT WAS AN EASY CHECK IN & OUT PROCESS

THE FACT THAT AS SOON AS I OPENED THE ENTRANCE DOOR WHERE THERE SAID THERES NO SMOKING ON THE PREMISES ACTUALLY WAS A LIE. THE BEDDING WERE NOT PROPERLY CLEANED. MY COUSIN AND I WERE JUST WAITING FOR A ROACH TO POP OUT. WE BOTH REFUSED TO EVEN TAKE A SHOWER YET ALONE TRUST THE TOWELS AFTER SEEING WET STAINS ON THE SHEETS. IT WAS JUST UNSANITARY & FAR FROM WHAT I AM USED TOO.

It was fine for the night but if my trip had been longer I wouldn’t have stayed.

Location off the interstate was good and close to gas stations and restaurants

Shower and bed broken, things were fairly clean but definitely needed a deep cleaning. Loud arguing outside on the stairwell for almost 2 hours.

Don't stay here

Location was excellent. Manager was very polite and helpful.

It was suppose to be a no smoking hotel, but people were smoking anywhere, even in their rooms. Some guests looked like permanent residents, kind of scary. Bathtub drain didn't work and we had to change rooms, very inconvenient with a sick husband.

The place did what it needed to do.

I called ahead to ask for a room change and they were able to accommodate my price and request. Everything was already in place during the time of check in.

The bathtub was slightly dirty, but overall the room was clean.
