Overall I had several good experiences so I will be back.

I love the style of the building the location and the bed was really comfy.

I walked in the room without turning the light on and walked to the bed not realizing there was a stair and fell down slightly on the bed and lower body on the floor.. we also had a problem with gnats.. approx 5-6

Very good

The staff was very helpful about telling us where we could park our rental car safely overnight. The hotel was quiet and right near downtown. There was a farm market around the corner the next morning and bunch of interesting shops and cafes in the area.

Nice place for short stays

I liked the antique features in the hotel. They tried to keep up with the original design.

The area was rough. Our room was very outdated. There were some plumbing issues but it's to be expected because the building is so old.

Loved my stay!

The Washington Inn, built in 1913, proudly receives guests in their 100 year old facility. Many of the original construction exists and has been well preserved. The room was comfortable, well cleaned and quiet. It felt safe and protected. In the morning. Breakfast was an array of any other hotel offerings. Yogurt, fruit cups, juice, cereal with milk, oatmeal, bagels, toast and jam! It was welcoming with delicious coffee! Water was the only thing o would have like to have in my room. I didn't notice the water option downstairs near the reception area until I was ready to leave! I'll choose the ole Washington Inn over the Marriott any day! Thanks staff!!

Great location and staff, good price, meh breakfast.

The location was marvellous (super close to BART station for access to anywhere and to ferry direct to SF; next to convention center with parking) and the building lovely. Staff was kind and super helpful. Room was decent.

The breakfast was quite light with little to choose from and almost all pre-packaged and processed, although the bagels were a nice touch and the coffee was decent. The room wasn't bad but the carpet felt sticky and not clean. Shower was spacious and HOT (it was hard to get to a not boiling temperature).

Ridiculously difficult to adjust the temperature of the shower, sounds like incompetence but both of us have had this problem in multiple different rooms, it is truly mind boggling.

location was ok

Not clean enough and very old carpets. Noice on Friday night for loud karaoke in the lobby. no bar tender at the bar for more than 20' Heating system was not working in the room.

Good solid value in a town worth visiting in its own right, despite the nearby Stella attractions of San Francisco.

Smack bang in the middle of downtown Oakland makes for a great location. Friendly and chatty staff who allowed me an early check in.

Disappointing

The staff was really great. They did their best to provide great service.

Although the rooms were renovated, the rugs were in very bad shape, the lights in the room flickered, the clock was melted and unreadable, the continental breakfast was underwhelming, and the parking was inconvenient - with only 1 usable parking pass that had to be borrowed and returned after each use. Since I was unfamiliar with the area, I did not realize I should have chosen a more safe area.

Way too hot & stuff inside after SF temperature rose to 33C!

Only good thing--location was good. Located at the Oakland Convention Centre/Marriot! All major attractions are within walking distance! That's very good!

1st, you can forget about Wifi in this hotel! On the 1st day it was ok, but then after 4-5 hours of use, it disconnects & you can't get back on again!! We paid for the wifi but it just disappeared when you stay at your room? That's a rip off. 2nd, on the 1st day when I checked in my room, the room literally was an oven!! It got so stuffy and hot that I immediately turned on the AC, however, the AC definitely did NOT work properly!! I turned it down to the coolest possible temperature & it never cooled down! I think the room's temperature almost matches that outside: If it's 33C outside, then inside same! If it's 19C outside, then inside it's around 24C+...anyways, it was definitely not a comfortable stay!! 3rd, facilities wise, there's no fridge in your room to store your food, only an ice machine & a microwave in the lobby kitchen area. And lastly, they shut the front door at 10pm so you can't get in unless if you call the hotel & show your room card to get in. This experience was not good. So I cancelled my 2nd stay with them.

mediocre. not worth the price.

There was a deadbolt and chain lock for the door. Chain was broke and inoperable. The window that leads to roof, had no lock. The window is large enough for person to go through. Then anyone can access the other room windows! We could not get the water for the shower to a comfortable temperature. It was either scalding hot or freezing cold. We had to juggle between hot and cold and only wash for a couple seconds at a time when the water was transitioning from hot to cold. Its an older building. but for the price, i would not stay here again because we didnt feel safe and couldnt shower. the beds were just ok.

not as expected

The hotel was well located in short walking distance to the bart (metro).

- the bed sheets and towels were dirty and had hairs and stains on it (as previous Feedback mentioned it as well) - the breakfast has no fresh food (at least some apples) and each thing is packed in plastic - the employees seems not to be qualified hotel employees - wifi is more or less not working - renovation of the rooms needed (the pictures in their profile are old!) - no socket next to the bed

Quaint old fashioned hotel with great staff, but it shows its age (over 100 y.o.)

Located in the very heart of the city of Oakland. Had 24 hour front desk staffing. Maid service was good.

Single pane windows and weak heating made for very cold mornings. No microwave or fridge in the room - had to go down to lobby to heat water or a meal.
