Appellation Lodi - Wine & Roses Resort and Spa

this hotel exceeded our expectations. the grounds were just lovely with flowers and vegetable garden and trees and beautifully sculpted shrubbery. the birds were a delight.

This was one of the oddest and least restful stays I have ever had (and I travel a lot). I arrived tired and when I went to take a nap an incredibly loud humming motor noise started in my room, accompanied by some clunking. It sounded like there was a loud hot tub in the neighboring room. Management said there wasn't and determined it was an HVAC filter which they first said they'd change but then said they didn't have. When I arrived back to my room the first night it was quiet until about 1AM, when someone entered the adjoining room and the noise started again and lasted 1 -2 hours (albeit not as loud). The second day when I went to rest before dinner the noise started again, then stopped. After dinner when I got back to my room the noise had started again and continued until about 3am, during which time I got no sleep. (It was a loud humming/vibrating noise and unfortunately earplugs and even a pillow over my head didn't help). Thank God it stopped before I had to get up for my morning departure, but I definitely ended this stay pretty sleep deprived. They did offer to switch my room and eventually upgrade me but because they never determined a solution I was afraid to go to all the trouble of moving rooms then have the same problem. When I walked around outside my room I did notice very loud air conditioning units outside their spa so my best guess is that the noise/vibration from those was coming through my ceiling vents. If it hadn't been for the positives above I would have given this place a 6/10 and don't think I would return knowing I would not be able to get adequate sleep.

I have stayed here before. Usually during the week, so I have not been here during a wedding. Super clean, nice staff. nice grounds. I will stay again.
