Person at check in was very helpful and kind. He made it a nice experience after a hard day.
Breakfast was nice.
Rooms were bright and nicely remodeled.
Cleaning ladies yelled at each other both mornings up and down the halls and one walked into our room while we were still in it right after my mother who she literally saw go in seconds before then acted confused like we weren’t all in the room still. It was more than 2 hours until checkout time.
Pool was nice but had to leave because other guests had kids that were wild and jumping in and not caring that there were others swimming or present. Almost jumped on my child more than once and a young girl literally hit me in the face with a ball. Mother did not try to control them at all.

Really nice front desk man. Super polite and friendly. I enjoyed swimming in the pool! There was a bear cub in the tree outside my room in the morning as I was leaving.... really sweet to witness. Downtown Cortez offered great restaurant choices.
The room smelled weird. Not sure how to explain it, it was just a weird smell all night long. I had a nice stay, but the smell was distracting, and stayed with me for a couple of hours after leaving the hotel. The carpet was dirty and needed a good steam clean (not the surface, just ground-in dirt by the bathroom.)
