I love the feeling of "away-ness" right in my backyard. You get the wilderness feeling with all of the comforts of home. This was my third visit to this resort and the amenities include a hot tub for personal use. I love that!
Unfortunately, I experienced a significant issue with my reservation at the onsite restaurant, Secret Garden. The customer service I encountered was extremely disappointing. The situation upset me so much that I decided to leave the resort a day early and will not be returning.
I did inform the front desk at checkout about what occurred, but to keep this brief: in my opinion, there were clear racial undertones in how I was treated. Despite having a confirmed reservation, I was told, “We will check availability,” which was unsettling. Additionally, I was spoken to in a condescending, infantilizing manner.
The employee then instructed another staff member to seat us in a “separate” area—without asking for our preference and without acknowledging that we were standing right there. The entire interaction was disrespectful, disheartening, and frankly, unacceptable.
Overall, it was a horrible experience. We will not be patronizing the resort again.
