It's cozy in the dark wood and small stairways sort of way that one forgets about with so many motels, and a bit more of a walk to town/to see a play than the Bard's inn, or that hotel on main street, but it is close enough that it was a nice walk back after a long day and play that went well into the night, and we didn't need to drive and park and that is a huge help.
The spa is open till 1 am which is a nice touch as they so often close while you're out for the evening and aren't available when you get back after 10 pm.

Nice location close to downtown with ample parking. The breakfast was decent including oatmeal and plenty of toppings plus almond milk as an option. There was an elevator for those who need it. Rooms were good sized and it was fairly quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful. Towels were thick and wonderful and the beds were comfortable.
The property could use a little updating, it would be helpful to have key cards that gave access to the street door instead of only physical keys so you had to walk around back to the car park entrance when returning from downtown. There was no fitness room on site but they did have an agreement for free access to a nearby facility but I didn’t make the effort to try that. Floors in the rooms were a bit slippery and the hairdryer was almost worthless, loud but with little airflow and not much heat.

We had a large room which was great for several days. It was comfortable. There were healthy breakfast options.
The furniture and pillows need to be updated. The wall unit for AC or heat is noisy. The most annoying thing was that we were awakened at midnight by a phone call from the front desk telling us there was a complaint that we were making noise. We had been sound asleep for two hours. The person who called obviously made a mistake and there was not an apology. A mistake - but it was not handled well.

When I first arrived, I thought it would have a rustic Shakespearean type atmosphere but, it was just was old and dated. When we went to the breakfast area, as I looked out the window, I could see fingerprints and smudges all over the window. It was quite dirty. The lady that worked in the dining area was wonderful, a very nice person. Thank goodness, my wife spilled her water on the carpet. Thank goodness because the carpet was so dirty, when they cleaned it, it was probably the first time since Bill Shakespeare himself had cleaned it.
