Good in town location. Having multiple, real wood ring fire pits in the back (river frontage!) with lighter, newspaper, kindling and good dry wood, all at no extra charge was truly unique and excellent. Otherwise, an old style motel which is in very good shape, but not worth the high price. I was expecting more luxury, especially in the rooms.
Wi-Fi was really poor quality in the room, constantly dropping out. Price was at a premium.

The Shire was a special treat for us. It was close to the shops in town, yet had a gorgeous and unexpected location on the river in the back. It was beautifully landscaped and was incredibly clean. The staff was kind and courteous and very accommodating. Parts of the hotel were under renovation, and I can't wait to go back to see how it turns out. Will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.
A coffee maker in the room would have been nice, but having the central coffee and microwave on each floor worked fine.

the location in woodstok was ideal to stroll into town. the room was warm - as in temperature. the bed was faily comfortable. the room was big.
every single shower we took was was cold. when trying to correspond via the number provided i never got responses. i asked for the hot water situation to be rectified and was completely ignored. i never saw a staff member. the "coffee bar" is a keurig with some pods and coffee mate. i restocked the coffee mate one morning because there wasn't anymore out. the decor in the room was sparse and worn but not shabby. would have been nice to have a coffee station IN the room vs by the cold front door. just a few changes could improve this place. i never went into the main building to see whatever their snack pantry thing was but when i looked it up, it seemed like a glorified vending machine. all in all, i won't be back.
