Okay.
Reliving the past - it's a time capsule! Early morning coffee on second floor.
Room was extremely small (bed up against the wall) with a wall A/C unit that would noisily cycle on and off throughout the night when set on recommended 'energy saver' mode. Was told they had the 'best breakfast in town' but was disappointed when served some granola cereal and a waffle with fruit - no protein!

Poor sleeping throughout the night. We were given a voucher for a pie,
We always like the location and the charm of the hotel. Staff are always friendly and helpful.
We stayed in room 15. We heard footsteps from room above stepping off bed going into their bathroom. Creaky floor! The room heater made loud clanking noise during night and prevented sleep. Too cold to turn off but we had to turn it down. No extra blankets in room so we were cold.

We would stay again. We really loved it and felt very comfortable and at home.
Most of the staff were incredibly friendly, and the history of the building is well displayed in both photos and educational plaques, and also in the decor and original finishings of the buildings. We stayed in the Honeymoon House and it was spacious with a living room and separate bedroom, historic, quaint, almost always quiet, private, comfortable, and lovely. We loved being able to go into the main shared community area with games, puzzles, and and books for quiet interactions. We got to meet several of the other guests and made some new friends during our stay there. The location is unbeatable. It is just street parking, but by the end of the day it's easy to move your car right in front of the hotel, and there are no parking restrictions so we were able to leave our vehicle right next to our unit for the entirety of the weekend into Monday. Monday was a bit noisy with trash trucks and such, but our stay was otherwise quiet (other than a loud wind and rain storm that pummeled the area one night), and the Honeymoon House was very cozy, private, and home like.
One or two staff members tended to be a bit abrupt in their tone and attitude. The breakfast was mediocre and only served for a very brief amount of time, 8 AM to 9 AM, sometimes 9:30 AM, which meant that we actually missed one of the meals due to sleeping in, and they did not offer to accommodate us, so we went for breakfast elsewhere that day. It's an old building so the insulation is not great, but they had plenty of heat sources available. The furniture is old and worn. The sofa was very comfortable, however it was covered with a relatively cheap cover and, when I looked underneath the cover, the upholstery was worn, torn, and tattered. My side of the bed was quite comfortable, but my partner had difficulty getting comfortable and did not sleep well. There was a very loud wind and rain storm that came through one of our nights, and the positioning of the bed is angled with the headboard nearest the windows, so it was incredibly loud, and both my partner and I had this feeling that a tree branch was going to come smashing through the window right onto our heads. Of course that didn't happen, and I'm not sure they could position anything differently in the quaint little bedroom, but it was a factor if you know there's going to be a storm the dates you're planning to be there. The wind, rain, and blown around tree debris was very loud and we didn't get any sleep that night. Parking in the busy tourist town was also a bit challenging, and we had to park blocks away and wait until the end of the day when most of the tourists had left before we could move our vehicle to a convenient closer spot next to the hotel. But once we moved it, we were able to leave our vehicle there for the remainder of our stay without any problems and essentially right outside the door of our unit. Even with all of these minor complaints, we really loved our stay and met some wonderful people in the shared community spaces who were also staying at the hotel.

Wonderful time at a wonderful place. Will be visiting again!
My girlfriend and I Just spent 2 days and one night at this adorably cozy bed & breakfast. It was my first time visiting Julian, and I wish I was still there! The staff were friendly and very accommodating! When you enter, there are a couple of very lovely sitting rooms with books and games as well as menus to all cafes and restaurants located there. Rooms were on the smaller side, but I honestly feel that's a big part of the charm it provides! The parlor room was very spacious with a large assortment of games and refreshments were provided during the evening social hours which was nice. One of the best things about the hotel is that they uphold the privacy of each guest and unless you're staying there, you cannot just simply walk in without speaking with one of the attending managers which may seem inconvenient being that the establishment is a historical site amongst many other building in town, but the attention to detail is positive. Overall, we had such a wonderful time though brief, but we will be staying there again on our next visit which was planned to make it a yearly trip. Thank you, to the staff of the Gold Rush!
