Clean small room, close to highway, nice little kitchenette, comfortable pillows and bed

No one present to check in but expected for a small inn

Location was in an uncontested area . Close to Dollar General, And about 10 miles from Arc Encounter, about 15 minute drive.. We met Tressa , the maid when we first showed up . She was sweet and very helpful but I think the owner only calls her when people check out to clean . She did have the room nice and clean for us. No one there to help in three days. NOT HER FAULT. We stayed in many ,many types of motels and this place is one for the books. First of all, we tried to check in a few hours earlier because we finished a 7 hour drive. Yet there was no one at the motel and the owner tried to get us to pay $25 more for early check-in and they said the room wasn’t ready yet. There was no one else there. The place was empty. We had to wait for that one specific room until Teresa got done cleaning it so we ended up checking in about an hour early after I asked them not to charge us.. On booking.com they show a kitchenette on photos and then when we checked in there wasn’t even a spoon in the drawer. First time I never got a kitchenette with no utensils of any kind no pans no spoons no forks no pots.. Half of electrical receptacles did not work. Why even have a kitchenette if you have nothing to cook with???? The Wi-Fi said excellent strength, but yet it was horrible. It would not work half of the time. We have Sling TV and I wanted to watch our DVD shows on my laptop and the Sling kept freezing or shutting down. The cable television was out for one evening and was not dependable.. so we had one evening with no Internet and no TV. The owner’s own a restaurant about a mile down the road and you have to deal with them through a phone call.. We ran out of toilet paper and had to buy some at the Dollar General. We also had to buy a fry pan and utensils to use the kitchenette. It’s not like the place was buzzing with business. There was only two other rooms filled in three days of our stay. New A/C / heater unit on wall which worked GREAT.

The owners own and operate an older restaurant that use to be an old Truck Stop about a mile down the road and we wanted to eat there, but the cigarette smoke was terrible. Someone told us the food was good, but we never did get to try it out because of the cigarette smoke.. The refrigerator icebox door was missing and the freezer had about 3 inches of frost in it so it never did make ice cubes and there is NO ice machine at this facility.. This little motel is kind of cute, but if it had a little bit more TLC, the place would be so much nicer. I know the place is at least 61 years old and it has been renovated, which makes it pretty nice. The reason I know that is because if you lift the lid on the back of a toilet, you will see a date when the toilet was manufactured and this one said 1965. Now the toilet worked good but there was a 1000 hairline cracks in it. Lol . When they renovated the room they really should’ve installed a new toilet. Things like that make a big difference.. My wife and I are not fancy people and low maintenance so this place was great for us but if the things I mentioned would’ve been corrected. Yes, we would stay here again if everything worked properly. I’m still baffled on why if the place was empty at the time of check in we had to wait for that specific room to be cleaned so we could check in???? The other rooms were empty and. We didn’t see Treasa cleaning any other rooms after we checked in. Why didn’t they just let us go in one of them???? Rooms are small but good for just two people.
