Very bad experience! Stay away from this property!

Firstly, let me clarify that this is not a hotel, but rather a hostel. However, my experience at this hostel in New Orleans was far from satisfactory. The room was uncomfortably cold and incredibly small, with no clean bedding provided. The overall cleanliness of the place was appalling, with dirt and disorganization evident throughout. It seemed as though hygiene was not a concern, as bad smells lingered and trash piled up in every corner. The general kitchen area was a chaotic mess. In summary, this establishment falls far short of even basic hostel standards, let alone those of a hotel. The only silver lining was its convenient location

I would not recommend. There's better for the price. It's fairly cheap, thats the only selling point

It was a motel, thts about it. They didn't have any extra amenities outside of "free wifi" which is standard everywhere. The place uses bonkbeds for adults which is an adult.

Room used bonkbeads for adults. They offered no special services for free, The room I was initially supposed to have had trash on the ground and was not cleaned so they had to swap rooms.

The best for low budget

India House Hostel is a suprisingly good choice for low budget. Next to the Canal street and the streetcar-stop downtown is in the doorstep. It is friendly, eclectic, multicultural and well-equipped. The staff was informative, nice and 24h reachable. The pool and the gardenpond is an amazing part of the exotic yard. Well-equippped kitchen, 24h free coffee, wide selection of sleeping possibilities, self-laundry. Wifi is preatty fast. Really enjoyed our stay, thank You!

Super chill vibe, clean place to stay and saves you some money!

Everyone was super friendly and the room was very clean. I enjoyed getting to meditate by the small pond and hanging out and meeting new people at the pool.

Someone stole my stuff out of the community fridge even though I labeled the item.

An ideal choice for staying

A great place to stay when you vistit New Orleans. Many many thanks to the wonderfull, helpfull & Kindness staff. The hostel is beautifull whith nice atmosphere, music, in a very nice location, only 15 minutes from city center via tram. We will stay there again when back to NOLA.

Do NOT trust the common spaces especially the fridges. They stolen our beers 3 times unfortunatelly. (This comment is not affected hostel's employees but the visitors).

Loved the coziness and friendly staff

We really loved this cozy place with their nice backyard. The staff were great and gave us lots of useful info and recommendations. Information provided on the board of the hostel about restaurants and events were great. We loved Taj Mahal the cat! :)

very kind people, get one more blanket when i asked which i really appreciate. definitely great for summer or warm weather! :) has the vibe. my boyfriend came very late in the evening and even though the receptionist was very kind and walked him to our room

was there when the weather was -6 degree celsius and nobody (me neither) count with that so it was pretty cold in the room and small heater but they definitely tried to solve it

This place could be as it used to be and it would be an amazing stay. Serious issues need to be addressed asap

We have been staying here for years and always had a great time. The place is falling apart and they have a serious issue with black mold!!!!! This issue is extremely bad and surprised they have not fixed it. They are very aware they have black mold and do not seem to care. Roof is leaking in the bathroom and in private room. Sad to see it falling apart, but they should not rent these rooms until at least the black mold is taken care of. Major health problem.

If you’re after something really basic it’s good.

The extras were good e.g. free tea and coffee, a vending machine with cheap drinks, and a white board that tells you all the events and what’s going on that day in the city, which was really useful.

There aren’t any en-suite toilets so we had to go outside to get to them - the toilets themselves were fine but it just meant you to get dressed, shoes on etc. The rooms were also very basic, just a bed and a desk.

Great value, location and staff!

Had a double/twin bunk bed with a private bathroom. The facility was clean and the staff was nice and well organized. Right next to a Streetcar stop with 3 different lines. Great value!

Very good

We stayed there 5 days, changing rooms 2 Times because I made differents reservations. First room was confortable, but smelling bad. Second room was Near the common toilet... Noisy. Last Room was way better. Staff is really nice, this is a good place to stay. It's used, but it's clean. If you see in comments that the swimming pool is dirty, it looks dirty but was actualy clean. They change it while we were there so now it's new and very clean. It's the only hostel in NO that have a swimming pool. Very Near the street car so it's useful. We enjoyed our stay even if it wasn't perfect, it's quite a good place with a good vibe!

Somes details like we didn't have garbage in the Room, miss some Little things like hooks for towel or night table but nothing big.
