We stayed this fall during a storm that closed the causeway off the island. The owners assured us we could stay on if need be, they helped us in every way to manage around the storm to find an open restaurant, to be comfortable in the cottage despite water washing over the boardwalks that are the walkways to the cottages - it was exciting but not threatening because the owner/managers were so helpful. The cottages were charming and well equipped - if we ever return to that Chincoteague that is where we will stay.

Cozy little cottages wth modern interior; good location; staff bent over backwards to accomodate us during the first Nor'Easter of the season;

- The location of Key West Cottages is unbeatable
- The cottages are beautiful
- The property is nice to walk around
- Host offered a free late checkout past the set 10am (a nice gesture, though 10am is quite early by most hotel standards).
Too expensive: $300 for 2 nights in the dead of winter feels unjustified.
Too demanding: despite premium pricing, guests are expected to wash their own dishes and take out the trash. That’s hostel-level effort at hotel-level rates.
Too uncomfortable: beds are extremely hard, and the pillows are flimsy. Basic sleep comfort is not there.
Too misleading: advertised as “waterfront with water views,” but the cottage sits on a small canal facing a hotel parking lot. Not quite false advertising... but close.
