The property is surrounded by rice fields and feels pleasantly removed from busy tourist areas. At the same time, it serves as a convenient gateway to a wild and beautiful part of eastern Taiwan, an area with natural hot springs and access toward mountain regions and nature areas such as Yushan National Park and Alishan National Scenic Area.
We arrived in the evening and were welcomed warmly by the owner. The first thing she did was invite us to sit at the table on the ground floor and serve us special local tea together with sweets and snacks we had never tried before. Everything felt local and authentic. She spoke only Chinese and we do not speak Chinese, but with a combination of pantomime and Google Translate, communication worked surprisingly well.
Our room was on the upper floor and included a large balcony overlooking the rice fields. The room itself was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with effective air conditioning and a large comfortable bed. The bathroom layout was practical, with the toilet separated from the bathing area, which included both a bathtub and a shower. Everything was clean and well maintained.
Breakfast was fixed and local in style. To our delight, most of it was vegetarian and very tasty.
There is private parking right next to the property, although honestly parking is not really an issue in this area.
And finally, the price. Considering the location, the hospitality, and the quality of the room, the value for money was vert high.
A peaceful and authentic place to stay if you want to experience a quieter and less touristy side of Taiwan.

Super vriendelijk personeel. Locatie is fijn, gelegen aan de rand van Guanshan. Het ontbijt is fantastisch en wordt vers voor je bereid.
Het bed was te klein voor mij, maar misschien komt dat omdat ik relatief lang ben (186cm).
