About this cottage rental
Nestled in Whakatane, this attractive cottage for $120 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. This classic kiwi cottage at the beach is the perfect spot to base yourself to escape and relax. There is a massive deck to relax on that has amazing views of Whale and White Island. There is loads of space to set up tents for the kids or additional guests or to park a camper/caravan or boat. It takes three and a half minutes to walk to feel the sand between your toes on the beach that is great for fishing and surfing. The house can sleep 4. A super king bed in the bedroom and there is room to put a couple of mattresses on the floor in the lounge. Or, pitch some tents outside. The Hub shopping center is a five minute drive, town is a ten minute maximum drive. There are a number of golf courses that are close by plus a boat ramp. Additional fishing, diving, and hunting trips can be arranged with an addition cost. There is a deck in the tree. DO NOT GO UP IN IT, please. There is no access to it as I do not want people up there. Please respect this. Come and stay in my little spot of paradise. Special conditions: There is plemty of room to pitch a tent (tents can be provided at additional cost) or park a caravan for additional guests. $50 per person, per night. Extras: Cleaning (Required, NZ$15.00 per person); Linen (Required, NZ$20.00 per stay); As I let my house out, occasionionally I will stay in the shed (if I don't go away-which is often the case). I will not cramp your style or impeded on your stay. You wont know I'm there or need to worry about me.

We really appreciated the little details Paul has looked after to set this up so well. The location is great with a short walk to an empty sandy beach which goes for miles. So nice to wake up to views of whale and white islands

Was a lovely little place in the perfect spot to relax. Close enough to town for what we needed, but far enough out that we could enjoy the beach and relax. Our little dog loved his run around too.

Stunning view of the ocean and surrounding islands from deck and bedroom. Great communication with friendly owner. Great dune walks. Friendly locals. Comfortable Bach. Walk to beach. Dog loved it as did we.

A slice of heaven.
A truly wonderful spot with awesome view of the ocean. Being able to take our little pooch along with us was great and we all enjoyed the walks along the beautiful beach. Paul was a great host and decent down to earth guy. Really recommend this place.

We totally recommend your loverly little home. So peaceful and view was amazing. Our German Shepherd loved staying there too. Great sunsets, view of the ocean and Whakare Island, steaming away in the background and 5 mins to town!

Absolutely fantastic setting. Great set up for our large dog. Home has everything you could need and beach is only minutes walk away and not overrun with people. Paul was really helpful. Would recommend to anyone

Fantastic
I can’t recommend this lovely cottage enough - either as a singles or couple retreat - but especially for those who love to take their dogs with them & have difficulty finding anywhere! It was just fantastic & would be even more wonderful in fine weather! Paul was so easy to communicate with, friendly & accommodating. Most definitely recommend & we’ll be coming back, for sure :)

My partner and I had a relaxing 3 day stay at Paul's cottage.
Short walk to the beach where we caught snapper while surfcasting, everything you need and nothing you dont. Highly recommended from my partner and I!

A wonderful beach house. Everything you need for a perfect stay, is available inside as well outside. Only a couple of minutes (by foot) to the beach for some walking or fishing. The view from the house is perfect.
Paul is a super host; friendly, helpful an very with a great hospitality.

Cottage at the Coast
Paul Speedy is a great host, friendly but discrete. When not using the cottage he is staying in the facility behind (out of sight and mind). The cottage facilities are very clean and homely in the limited space available (bedroom plus living/kitchen area). 5 minutes walk to an open beach and only a few minutes drive to Ohope. Great views to Motuora and White Islands. Between the cottage and the beach there is subdivision with houses being built.

Thank you Paul for allowing us to stay. Also appreciated is how prompt your communication has been. A wonderful cottage to stay in and it was lovely to see the scenic view. As for your bed.. wow! I think with all the holiday home stays we have done, both here in NZ and overseas, your bed was the most comfortable thank you. Beautiful views, cosy place and dog friendly!
Paul's property was just gorgeous. A classic kiwi bach with stunning views of Moutohora Whale Island, an out-of-this-world comfortable bed, and a genuinely dog-friendly property. There's a beautiful beach nearby, the local river it's a great base to explpore not only Whakatane but also Papamoa, Tauranga and Te Urewera. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

Four of us stayed. Place worked great with two of us sleeping in the house and two sleeping in the campervan on the lawn.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The Bach was small and cosy, yet had everything I needed. I particularly enjoyed the unexpected mod cons such as sky tv, a chrome cast and heated towel rail! Kitchen is very well stocked and the bed was very comfortable. But the best part was the location. The view was spectacular of the ocean and the island. Minutes walk to the beach, couldn’t ask for more. Thanks so much :)
