This is my 2nd stay at the Rennequin. I like it so much I am writing another review.
First off, the whole team, both front of house and engine room, are genuinely happy, welcoming, pleasant people. They all speak far superior English to my French.
The rooms are ridiculously spacious for Paris. I could have hosted a small reception party on my terrace.
Everywhere is spotless and modern. The AC (in an August heatwave) worked beautifully day and night. I appreciate the attention to details such as kitchen roll, tissues beside the (well-lit) bathroom mirror and a reliable iron.
The 17th has been a revelation. I had an event in Montmartre recently and I regret not staying in the 17th. I paid 25% more there for 60% less space and no fridge. I had been worried about travelling late at night but silly me. Paris is a great city and very safe.
This year I upped my Paris game by using the city bikes. At first I was nervous (I am a 55 year old woman travelling alone, also 'heatwave!'). By day two I was unstoppable and covered almost 30 km using the blue pedal-assist bikes. (Tips; use the app, buy a 3-day pass, be fearless but obey the traffic signals, check over your shoulder for speedsters before pulling off from the kerb)
To finish, here is a typical day at the Rennequin for me;
Wake up rested in a big firm bed to a lovely cool room. The AC is efficient and quiet. Floor to ceiling shutters are an option but I prefer a little light from the long curtains.
Power-up the Nespresso, do a yoga routine on warm parquet (all that space!), breakfast from the fridge. Read on the terrace.
Pick up a bike, sail along the wide, safe boulevards and in 30 minutes from Péreire I am at the Musée d'Orsay. Spend the day hopping between museums on bikes, skipping the crowds, avoiding the metro, thoroughly exploring Paris above ground. When I'm busted, I take a bike 'home' in 30-40 minutes from anywhere in Paris. I pick up some sushi, enjoy the great wifi, go to bed happy.
