The location was very nice, the grounds were well kept and the free roaming peacocks were great. The hot tub and sauna were a really nice addition to the cabin and the facilities and kitchen wear were more than adequate for a home away from home stay.
There were activities such as table tennis to keep the kids entertained and a walk around the grounds was very pleasant and for the most part created a peaceful and relaxing environment.
We found it a little snobby and quite impersonal. The reception staff were just rude and did not make you feel welcome or that our custom was appreciated in the slightest. They issued minimal information regarding the room, the grounds or the facilities, basically just saying to scan a QR code for information which we did and also found it a little uninformative, we were told to download Whatsapp for news and resteraunt specials - but at no point were we greeted warmly or offered a welcoming smile.
After two failed attempts to book in at the restaurant we could not confirm a reservation - stating the Chef is not taking any more bookings both times and we were also declined food from the take away menu - reason being the Chef was too busy and under staffed. We were turned away and due to the isolation of the property my wife and five year old went hungry of a hearty meal and we ate what little snacks we had left from our days out exploring.
Perhaps we could of prepared a little better ourselves for the possibility of this but it was not stated that a reservation was essential - the super unfriendly receptionist did say it was advised but did not say it should be reserved 24 hours in advance as the Chef did when refusing to make a booking or prepare an order from the take away menu for us. There was not enough priority given to the guest in this instance and we found it to be a huge disappointment.
The final issue we experienced was the lack of housekeeping - perhaps we are expecting to much here but at no point were the tea/coffee replenished - nore were the towels or toilet rolls. This likely would or could have been an option had we felt comfortable enough to check with the receptionist although based on previous interactions with them we opted out of further communication with them until we checked out - where they again did not fail to disappoint.
