Literally nothing

We stay here regularly when we’re in the area and cannot fault it. Comfy bed, great restaurant, and the swimming pool was fantastic to use in the heatwave. Love it here.

We’ve stayed here a few times and have always loved it. Staff are friendly, we always feel welcomed, and the chateau is truly lovely, especially in the evening. The food and local wine in the restaurant is exceptional - make sure you eat there at least once during your stay, it is a wonderful experience with the stonework all lit up.

The courtyard was extremely charming and the food and wine were great, but I'd rather recommend it for a dinner, than to stay overnight. The receptionist were also very pleasant and did everything with a smile.
You know how they say it's the small things that can make a visit an incredible experience? Well it's all those small things missing here that make this a really underwhelming place to stay. Starting with the room. We paid for the superior room as we wanted the medieval feel. The pictures on the website show these rooms furnished with tapestries and poster beds, with period wall features such as old window bays and fireplaces. What we got was a bog standard hotel room with some period-ish furniture pieces thrown in. Decor was completely off scale with the size of the room, just some small pictures, no grand flags or tapestries. There was no effort to integrate the modern elements (TV, aircon) with the old, which just gave the room a very schizophrenic feeling: flat screen TV and cables hanging next to an old timey wardrobe. You get the idea. There is no mini-fridge, so you have to keep going to reception for a refill of cool water. Doesn't feel very relaxing or elegant. Also the bedding was way too soft and uncomfortable, however I concede that that is subjective. Moving on to the hotel facilities and the building itself. The stairway is just off the kitchen, so the stairway and corridor ends up smelling like a diner (not in a good way, but like cooking oil, etc) at lunch and dinner. Speaking of eating at the hotel, the food is maybe one of their redeeming features. However service was still quite poor, we had come down for dinner and were seated, and then it took the waiters 20+ minutes to actually ask us if we even wanted water or anything, nevermind to take our orders. We ended up not going back for any other meals, even though the food itself was great. The pool is very tiny and feels crowded when there are 4 people or more. The location itself is not very good. The village is out of the way, so you have to travel on country roads to get to most of the main sights.
