The Ark is a lovely coastal cottage, situated next to the beach, sailing club and promenade. It is in the popular village of Gurnard, a very friendly and welcoming place and somewhere you'll want to come back to time after time. The Ark was renovated to a high standard a few years ago and is full of seaside charm with its coastal theme décor and wooden floors. It is a one bedroom property with en-suite bathroom. Patio doors, accessed from the bedroom, lead onto a large sunny decked area with garden furniture. There is an open planned living/dining and kitchen area with lovely sea views from the sofa, the perfect spot to spend many hours watching boats, the famous Gurnard sunsets and the ever changing seascape. The property has all the modern luxuries and conveniences you would expect from holiday accommodation and bedding and towels are provided. The Ark is close to cafes, pubs, shops and restaurants as well as within very easy reach (by foot and car) of Cowes, the Mecca of world sailing. If you are looking for a quaint but modern cottage, close to amenities yet within a peaceful setting then The Ark is for you. Many of The Ark's guests return each year - the best compliment I could hope for.

Just returned from a 7 night stay at The Ark. Overall The Ark is a lovely quirky property with everything you need for a self catering stay (the iron had seen better days, depositing a large quantity of timescale on our clothes when ironing wasn't ideal). Very good communication with the host and a nice welcome note and bottle of wine upon arrival. The location was excellent and I would say, along with Cowes, one of the nicest areas on the Island if you like a sea view and a nice walk, particularly at sunset. As advertised, the property is quirky with low ceilings in some areas (very well pointed out) and different fall levels. May be difficult for someone very tall or with some mobility issues but fine for us. The step in the bathroom in front of the toilet is a bit dangerous I think and isn't clearly marked, just a continuation of floor tiles. My only negative comment about the property is the garden. From the photographs on the listing, we were looking forward to sitting in the lovely garden with a nice glass of wine and watching the sunset if the weather permitted however, the garden does now need some TLC as obviously a few years since the pictures were taken. Parts of the decking were soft underfoot and clearly had started to rot, it looked very weathered and the pots/shrubs were overgrown and clearly not tended to, the whole garden wasn't particularly inviting which is such a shame as it was a sun trap with a sea view. Overall all I would recommend The Ark.

The location was perfect for this lovely cottage. There is parking but it's very tight. No good for big cars but there is space on the road.Direct access to the beach and an easy walk along the coast to Cowes. Maria and Kate both friendly and willing to answer any questions.

Lovely comfortable beach style cottage with fantastic views. Ideal base for exploring island. Pet friendly with bowls , towels, poop bags supplied. The little extras make all the difference.
