Charming, Cozy Oceanfront Cottage on Pleasant Beach, South Thomaston
About this cottage rental
Situated in South Thomaston, this charming cottage for $225 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. Our adorable classic Maine cottage sleeps three. A new adjacent bungalow accommodates an additional two people for an extra charge of $350.00 a week (a great place for the kids to sleep and hang out!). The cottage has an updated kitchen and bathroom. There is a wooden table (that can fold out) in the living room for indoor eating. We have a fully outfitted heated bathroom (shower, no tub) with new fixtures. Upstairs, there is a loft-style full bedroom with a spectacular view of the ocean. There is a small single bedroom downstairs. The living room has comfy furniture and a lovely gas fireplace for those rare chilly summer mornings. There is WiFi but no TV. Linens and towels are provided. The screened-in porch, which overlooks the Gulf of Maine, features a family-sized table for dining out on summer evenings. Attached is a small deck with a charcoal grill for you to enjoy. Two kayaks (one double and one single) are also available. During the day, luxuriate on the warm rocks a few steps away or take the short path down to Pleasant Beach for swimming, snorkeling, crab-hunting, fishing, and sun-worshipping. We have a fire pit right by the water where you can make s'mores and look at the stars. The cottage boasts a stunning view of the bay. Sip your morning coffee on the porch and watch as lobstermen ply their trade while children climb the rocks along this secluded coastline. No crowds here! Nearby seafood shacks and restaurants in the area are well known, or if you're nice to the local lobsterman, you might have fresh lobster brought directly to your front door. Located 12 minutes from Rockland, 10 minutes from Owls Head, 35 minutes from Camden Hills State Park, and near many other Midcoast attractions. We also welcome a well-behaved dog for a small fee, but this is a cat-free, no-smoking property. I am happy to answer any questions about our wonderful Maine cottage. ----- There is also a fun bunkhouse behind the cottage that has 3 beds and a little front porch. It is a great place for the kids to hang out, to use as an artist studio, or to simply have some quiet time! There is NO bathroom, but there is a mini-fridge and coffee maker and it is only ten steps away from the main house. It is available for rent for an extra $350.00 weekly.

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The perfect escape for an an end of summer vacation.

We stay in Maine each summer and this cottage right on the water with access to Pleasant Beach did not disappoint. We needed a place that would allow pets. This cottage was perfect for us and our 7 month old lab. We had a great week kayaking, exploring all mid-coast Maine has to offer. The cottage is rustic and everything you'd expect and want when getting away to enjoy the coast of Maine. The only thing missing was another weeks stay. Hope to stay again in the future.

Our family enjoyed our stay. Our kids (4 and 8) loved exploring the beach at low tide and playing games on the porch at night. The location offered lots to do with hiking, beach and Rockland all nearby.

Yellow Cottage
We enjoyed our stay on Maine's Mid-coast. The view from the cottage can't be beat. We enjoyed sitting out on the bench by the shore, as well as in the large screened in porch. While inland it was hot, it was quite comfortable at the shore. Easy access to good seafood, shopping and other services.

Loved the cottage and surroundings, everything was as described. Clean and homey, with a cool sense of history to everything. The views are even nicer than they look in the pics, and Laura was super communicative and easy to reach. Definitely want to return some day.

Spectacular views from a cottage with character
The positives far outweigh the negatives but there are 2 big negatives: the unreliable water supply and the bed mattresses (which could be easily fixed.) The cottage has character and is in a BEAUTIFUL setting right on the water plus a good location relative to towns & things to do. Having to be SO careful about the water is a downer. The house has a comfortable sofa and chair but reading lights are too dim. The gas stove is a pleasure. Kayaks, firepit, intertube, etc are perfect for younger people but the walkway from car to house should be improved for older people, especially dangerous when wet. Also a railing on the inside steps would be helpful. The flowers and nightlights were a plus and the rocking chairs on screened porch wonderful. If the mattresses were replaced and some upgrade in water system this would be 5 stars plus, plus, plus. The views are magnificent, especially sunrise and moonrise over the ocean! It might be helpful to have a neighbor/local person to call if questions arise. We had a relaxing, very pleasant time here but the very tiny shower and unreliable water supply are concerns. The owner was very responsive to our questions.. It is a family house & we can see why it is so loved. Thanks for a memorable week.

We had such a wonderful week at The Little Yellow Cottage! The view was amazing, and the cabin had everything we needed to enjoy a week in Maine. We spent a lot of time on the screened in porch and on the rocks by the water. We enjoyed the flowers and the plants all around the cottage, and we even found some blueberries and a firefly! We took the kayak out one day and paddled around the island a bit. We ate at McLoon's 2 times and found their crab rolls to be fantastic!! We also bought fish at Jess's Market a few times and even had them steam lobsters for us. Both places were quite close and easy to find. The cabin is located nearby so many fun things things to see and do. We drove down to Boothbay one day and did the Cabbage Island Clam Bake. We would highly recommend this tour to others. We also drove up to Rockport and Camden and hiked in the Camden Hills. This cabin has a nice central location that is close to so many fun things to see and do!

We love visiting South Thomaston, and decided to stay at the yellow cottage in our recent trip. The cottage had everything we needed for a family vacation. The fireplace warmed the place on the chilly nights. The view is amazing and we can’t wait to go back.

We enjoyed a lovely week at the little yellow cottage. The location was perfect- close to Rockland/ Thomaston/ Camden but right on the water and in a quiet area but not too secluded. The cottage was adorable and the screened in porch was a huge bonus. Lots of time spent out there! There was plenty of room for myself, husband and 2 kids (ages 6&9). There is a small pebble/ sand/ shell beach to the left of the property that can be accessed by the shore or road. Right in front is steep rock which made me a bit nervous watching the kids climb about but they did just fine and loved discovering tidal pools. You can see the ocean and hear the waves from most everywhere in the cottage. The owner was very quick and thoughtful to respond to questions. We were out and about a lot but had most of our dinners on the porch and the kids loved and just wanted to “hang out” at the cottage. It was nice to have a kayak and life vests available. I could really feel the history and energy of the family that has owned this property for over 100 years. Thank you Laura for the opportunity to stay here.

My husband, dog, and I had a wonderful, relaxing stay in Laura's cottage. We LOVED kayaking to Birch Point Beach and up the Weskeag River. Visiting Rockland and Camden was great when we wanted a break from reading on the porch. Bring good walking sandals as it's built into a slope - that's why the views are so great!

Peaceful stay in Mid Coast Maine
Our stay at the cottage was thoroughly relaxing with all the amenities one might need to enjoy Mid Coast Maine. Our host was very communicative and the house was clean and well appointed with an incredible view of Penobscott Bay. Can't wait to return next year!

Beautiful Cottage on the water!
The yellow cottage was perfect for the end of our 2 week vacation. Relaxing by the fire with a book, a puzzle or just looking out at the beautiful view. We loved the rustic cabin feel and really appreciate being allowed to use the cherished family cottage. All the things we needed for a fresh Maine lobster dinner at home was there. We would love to come back.

This property exceeded our expectations. The home was enchanting, comfortable with fantastic views
Our family of 4 and dog had a wonderful vacation at Nautilus. The home had everything we needed, the neighbors were friendly and helpful. Laura was very responsive to any questions we had. Our daughters (ages 9 and 14) enjoyed having their own private cabin to sleep in at night. The rocks were great for exploring and collecting, and there were many great islands to kayak to. Great location for day trips to Rockland, Booth Bay, Cushing and Thomaston.

Classic Maine cottage and ocean view. All as promised on web site. Kayaking safer than expected.
One can be content to sit on the porch or rocks or one can visit local markets and artists or go ocan kayaking and feel the immensity of sky and water. Birch park in Owls Head is a Sandy Beach destination. The nearby beach is a short walk as well. The owner was considerate and provided a helpful summary book. The entire peninsula is worth browsing. The cottage can fit 3 to 4 adults well. It has character. Children would also enjoy.

Very cute - well stocked cottage
We had a great stay at the cottage.. very cute and it had everything you would need.. My wife and I were with our 70yo mothers - and they had a little bit of difficulty moving around outside - but that’s just more of an FYI for future travelers. Beautiful views - loved having meals on the porch and staring at the water.. hope to stay again soon!

Absolutely beautiful spot, adorable cottage
We arrived late in the dark and pulled into the driveway to see an adorable cottage with a trellis and solar lighted walkway to the door. Inside it was cozy and homey, and we felt right at home. We found the beds made up for us too. We couldn't believe the view even at night, and how close to the ocean we were! We got up to watch the sunrise from the rocks. It was enchanting; we had a front row center seat and the bird sounds all around added to the wonder of the show. The screened porch is a lovely place to sit and relax as well, and the tree house is a fun spot for the kids. We didn't use the kayaks as it was a cold weekend, but we hope to come back again and use them. The gas stove in the living room was much appreciated and added to the ambience of this cozy cottage. The location was great for exploring the St. George peninsula and the Camden/Rockport/Rockland area. We visited Marshall Point lighthouse, Owls Head lighthouse, Tenants Harbor, and took a cruise out of the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. The next day we drove to Camden and hiked to the top of My. Barrie. A changing climb, but what a view! We absolutely loved our stay and can't wait to come back! Thank you, Laura and Jeff, for a lovely experience!

Best place ever
We loved the cottage at first sight. We spent almost 2 weeks there and really felt at home. Laura has everything you would need there and the gas stove was nice on the cool evenings. Meals on the porch overlooking the water was especially a treat. We loved the library and the history of people that summered there. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet homey getaway. Our dog Willie made some great friends. The 2 chocolate labs came down every morning to walk with us.
Will be back.

An Amazing Setting!
The two weeks my husband, dog and I spent at the yellow cottage went by much too quickly! The setting is quintessentially Maine -- right on the water, with a great view of the open sea and rocky shored spruce covered islands! There is even a nice small beach right around the corner! We loved being able to sit on the screened in porch (in our experience, a rare luxury for Maine rentals) any time of day or night, having our morning coffee or evening cocktails, and watching the tides, the lobster boats and the shore birds. The location is perfect for a quick trip into Rockland, to Spruce Head Island to our favorite lobster shack, McLoon's, or to anything else in the mid-coast area. The house is over 100 years old and therefore a bit ...quirky. It is small -- we ended up using one of the bedrooms for our closet. The narrow steep stairway can be tricky to negotiate, especially if you have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. (But there are plenty of handy nightlights throughout the house.) The house could use a bit of sprucing up, but it is clean and functional. The gas stove proved great for heating up the house on cool mornings and evenings. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you would need, even with spices and other staples. There are a lot of warnings about minimizing water use, but for two of us we had no issues. The owner Laura was very accommodating and helpful throughout the process, even welcoming us with a bottle of wine on our arrival!

Really enjoyed this coastal cottage
My wife and I stayed here in early July 2017 and couldn't have been happier with it. The screen porch was fantastic and we enjoyed sitting out on it as it has a great view of the water and the cove the house sits in. The kayaks were an awesome perk and we took advantage of them. There are several neat islands close by to kayak around and one of them (Ash Island) has been turned into a preserve that you can get out and walk around on. The kitchen had everything we needed and the bed we slept on upstairs was comfortable. The house is in a great location and only 15 minutes or so away from Rockland. Since we got back from Maine we have been telling all of our friends and family they should visit and if any of them do I would absolutely recommend they stay at this cottage.

Beautiful scenery, accommodating owners
Perfect place to come to, to get away from it all and enjoy all the beauty coastal Maine has to offer. Water usage can be a bit of a issue with more then two or three people, but I knew the water restrictions before I booked, its all part of the cabin experience. Laura is great with communications and ready with answers for any questions you may have. Thank you for the experience.

This small cosy place with lots of history and good vibes was exactly what we have been looking for in Northern Maine for some time.

Absolutely breath taking
Place was clean and had everything you would need. Private street so no traffic unless you lived there. Breath taking view....so who needs TV. Sat for hours and read by the bay listening to the water and the birds. We will visit again.

Where the forest meets the sea
Our stay was one of the best trips we have shared in all our travels. The cottage is located close to so many attractions do not even know where to start. We ate the most incredible sea food ever, the town of Rockland was a gem. You will not find a better view anywhere. Hope your stay will be as amazing as ours was.

Classic Maine Cottage experience
This is a great cottage and classic Maine experience. Great place to get away from it all but close to Thomaston and Rockland.
The cottage has all the necessities and updates while keeping things simple.
Laura was very responsive and easy to work with and checked it to make sure everything was good during our stay.
Tree House by the water was a great bonus for little kids.
