Set in beautiful old town, with great views but very smelly!

Was in beautiful old town which was probably the quietest place in town! Sunset beach was incredible, super close and a great place to catch the sunset! Bed was comfortable, and the view from the room was lovely!

As soon as we walked into the room it smelt so bad… we figured it was coming from the bathroom but couldn’t figure out what it was. Was incredibly smelly, and wasn’t enjoyable. We ran the shower to try help, and cooled the room down to see if that helped. When we returned after being out and about it still smelt really bad! One of the towels we were given had like a dry dead fly/bugs stuck to it when I unfolded it. The stairs up to the place were pretty tough with 20kg bags, lucky ours turned into backpacks but would advise against staying here if you have anything bigger or anything you can’t carry. English was not good. Since we were only staying one night we just dealt with it but won’t be returning.

Good

We had an exceptional experience staying in the perfect location of Old Town Ulcinj. The hosts were incredibly friendly and accommodating, earning a perfect ten in my book.

One thing to note is that arriving after 8PM meant a bit of walking to reach the property due to restricted access between 8PM-1AM to the old town. It would have been helpful if these details were provided in advance as finding the location and parking took some effort.

The location is really good in the middle of the old town surrounded by restaurants although difficult to find as the property has no name on it and google maps takes you nowhere near it. Its 5 mins from a lovely private sunbathing/swimming area/ bar/restaurant called Sunset Beach (not an actual beach)-nice food and cocktails there. Sunbeds there included in room price. Owners mum is very friendly.

Our room and terrace need cleaning and updating -two of the wardrobes were locked presumably with owners stuff in them, hot tub is not a hot tub but a jacuzzi bath, terrace not very clean with rusty old air-conditioner, seating not nice so we didn't sit outside.

A good experience but I don't think I would try it again, to dirty :(

The staff was really nice they were very friendly, and the location is very good it is in the castle so it is a different experience from other hotels.

The room was not clean, we even had trash in the bathroom from previous guests, and it smelled really bad.

We enjoyed our stay at the Sunset beach which belongs to the appartement.

The location was great

The cleanliness of the room coups be better and we were missing some glasses and cups for coffee/ tea.

Beautiful View, Tucked Away in Old Town

The view from the room was absolutely incredible!! Almost a full 180 degrees uninterrupted of the ocean. The stay is located in the old town, which in Ulcinj is not the main area to explore, so it is very quiet. As a bonus there is a rock beach that the hotel owns, where guests can get a free sunbed, which we enjoyed.

It's quite difficult to find, we had to ask some people in restaurants for directions. The rooms are in the house of the owners, which is fine, just not really what we were expecting. There are a lot of stairs leading up to the property too, so if you can't carry your bag then consider this.

Lovely spacious room in 'old town' with wonderful views of sea and town.

Spacious room with large balcony overlooking the sea! Lovely to be in the 'old town' which is 'car free' hence very quiet! The rooms are part of restaurant KALAJA (Sunset is their bar on the rocks overlooking sea). If you get a taxi from the bus station ask for KALAJA restaurant as much easier to access and find accommodation! The room had very basic 'self-catering' - cups/glasses/plates/ kettle/cutlery. We had one meal in the restaurant which was good. Very friendly hosts.

The self-catering facilities. Would have good to have a chopping board for salads & fruit etc.

Good place if on a budget.

Relatively cheap compared to other hotels in the old town. the owners are super nice and helpful.

It was a little dirty. the bathroom is tiny and if you have a bigger bum, it is almost impossible to use the toilet. Also it is hard to find if you haven’t been there before. you need to park your car on the north side of the beach (6€/day) and climb the stairs into old town. enter Kalaja hotel and ask for Sunset.

old town ..

clean and comfortable,

on our second evening I paid the owner in cash , she was working at the time and just put the money in her pocket, 2 days after leaving I received a phone call telling me I forgot to pay , she clearly had forgotten and I was a little offended, be sure to ask for a receipt when you pay for your room .. also there was not water for 2 or 3 hours every day , wifi wasn’t always available..

The best stay I have ever been

THE BEST HOTEL IN ULCINJ! It is PARADISE. It's at the best location close to the city center, small beach, boat taxis for tours, and even the ladies beach. There are numerous restaurants/bars to choose from the hotel itself as well as the city center. The hotel's private beach (sunset beach) had the best and most romantic views in the city and the food at sunset and kalaja restaurant were DIVINE, FRESH, and DELICIOUS. Most of all the hostess and her family were the kindest and most welcoming people I've ever met. They made me feel safe and comfortable, making this the best vacation I've ever had. Will definitely be coming back and highly recommend. Miss you guys

Great family run homely stay

Great location in heart of the old town. The people who met us to show us the room we're very friendly and helpful

The only problem we had initially was finding the property. The property name on booking doesn't match. The accomodation is linked to the Kalaja restaurant

Superb

A landlord is a great women. She welcomed us with big enthusiasm and helped us a lot. A view and balcony were great. A restaurant serve quite big breakfast and the atmosphere there is great.

Actually we had some small problems with finding this place- no signs on the walls how to get there

The apartment was very nice. Well located in the old town of Ulcinj. The lady of the house welcomed us very friendly. Breakfast at Sunset Beach was good. The sunset (also at Sunset beach) was amazing. Our stay was very awesome here.

friendly people. special experience. the beach was like a super relaxing place. the breakfest was enough to keep you all day. the sunset was impressive. From the castle you can see the whole city of Ulqin, and enjoy the picturesque look. The sity is was near the castle , u can go by walk . I will go again
