The Dudek's Nest B&B

I just spent 8 nights at The Dudek’s Nest B&B (Gordon’s house) and I feel so lucky to have chosen it for my vacation in Palau. If you want a genuine, warm experience instead of a sterile hotel, this is exactly where you need to stay. Maura and Greg are just wonderful hosts who make you feel like family from the moment you arrive. The views from the property over Nikko Bay were amazing; waking up and seeing that from the balcony every morning was incredible. The lagoon is just a short walk away, and they have complimentary kayaks you can use. It's really worth taking them and heading out for an early morning snorkel—the underwater world there is almost the same as at the distant Rock Islands. Also, the breakfasts were lovely, and those homemade pancakes were so delicious! The room itself was clean and comfortable, equipped with AC and Wi-Fi. In the bathroom, I had excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water, which isn't always a given on an island. It really feels like a peaceful nature retreat, but it's still just a short distance from the center of Koror, which is conveniently reachable by rental car. Thank you so much, Maura and Greg, for your incredible hospitality and for making my stay so special. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Palau!

There are a few downsides to keep in mind. The house is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, so the humidity in the area is very high (the AC in the room was a lifesaver). There are quite a lot of tiny bugs (flies, not mosquitoes) on the balcony and terrace. Also, the outdoor AC unit is a bit noisy—it vibrates and makes noise for about 20 minutes after you turn it on. Lastly, there are a lot of roosters in the surrounding area, so you can hear them crowing from early morning until evening.

We had an amazing time. Owners are such kind people and lovely hosts! Breakfast was great, everyday it was something different, but the banana pancakes were amazing! They had kayaks which we could use and the water and snorkelling in the bay is so clear and lots of marine life. The perfect place for a little rest and retreat.

Loved the people and the views! The water pressure was amazing in the shower. The hosts Maura and Greg are very kind and do their best to help make sure your stay is amazing.

It’s a little far outside from the main part of town. There is no bus that goes to the dudeks nest so you have to find rides which sometimes can be a little tricky. Sometimes the wild chickens are loud in the mornings.
